As BB mentioned, Perth Mint have published 2011 mintage figures for lunars. They are:

Silver Rabbits
10kg - 173
1kg - TBD
10oz - 12,563
5oz - 8,030
2oz - 99,494
1oz - 300,000
1/2oz - 124,488

Gold Rabbit
10kg - NIL
1kg - 153
10oz - 641
2oz - 4,209
1oz - 30,000
1/2oz - 8,885
1/4oz - 11,101
1/10oz - 21,901
1/20oz - 22,412

Seeing as how the 5oz and 10oz were not minted for a full year, here is the comparison vs the 2010 Tiger:

Tiger 5oz - 14,553
Rabbit 5oz - 8,030

Tiger 10oz - 16,727
Rabbit 10oz - 12,563

So where did all that Rabbit demand get directed?

Tiger 2oz - 63,005
Rabbit 2oz - 99,494

Tiger 1/2oz - 50,035
Rabbit 1/2oz - 124,488

Interesting to see that there were more 10oz then 5oz Rabbits minted.

No - only the kilos can continue to be minted.
really? why do they do that when that lunar year is finished?
It's probably the most cost effective size to produce, so they pound them out to demand for the life of the series.

if PMs can re-mint kooks '92 based on its mintage number, i think they should able re-mint the other. in this case lunar series

the question is, this re-mint scenario just valid for 1oz only or for all type of coin?

How does the 5oz stack up against rat/ox/tiger S2 mintages? TIA

thanks again

The 5oz and 10oz rabbit has a lot lower mintage than the Tiger.

It's very rare to find a 5 or 10oz 2011 Rabbit on Ebay and if you do they are quiote expensive.

The 5oz sells for about 280 -350 over the last 6 months.

The 10oz rabbit was selling for $360 in Feb 2011, September 2011 - $563 and now upwards of 700.

The 5oz Tiger was selling for $350 in August 2011 and $300 in March 2012.

The Mouse and Ox are very expensive, that's "if" you can find them...over 700 bucks.

If i am not mistaken, I think 5oz tiger wentfor $240-250 in here.

I wonder if 5oz rabbit sells higher that tiger.

^ Always been like that at the Perth Mint. Bullion sales operate separately from the numismatic sales. Not the most efficient way to run a business one wouldnt have thought.

Im glad I got my 5oz silver rabbit when I did, even though it cost 240 but I think the price should go up nicely over the coming years looking at the low mintage!
