2011 Lunar Rabbit Reaches 300,000 Already!

I just walked past downies, they wanted $105 for a proof rabbit.

The release price was 92.50, and they are sold out at the Perth Mint. Might pop down to a post office and buy a few more for trading later.

I have been searching a few places and can still get them for $89 ATM but once these dry up I know it will be very difficult and prices to rise.

Release price was actually $89 but with silver rising the mint pumped up their proof prices pretty quick.

If they get to the 1oz max mintage soon, then i guess they will get back into making the 5oz and 10oz rabbits. I thought they would've been a good buy (similar to 2oz mouse) because they stopped minting them, but maybe now that isn't the case.

The 2oz Mouse, its price is rather odd being so high. Not like there was any great shortage, 9,000 were made which is comparable to other 2oz coins in the Lunar years. I'd say we will see the 2oz, 5oz, 10oz and 1kg Rabbits exceed every other year's production in those sizes.

I am keeping some powder dry for the dragons.

But something tells me they won't be cheap come September. Might as well stack now and sell part of the stack to fund the September dragon purchases.

Something tells me, the mintage will be at least 500,000.

Nope, 300,000 is the 1oz limit for Series 2 Lunars. The 10kg has a limit of 1,000. All other sizes however dont have a mintage limit. Might see this year for the first time Lunar Coin where other sizes are minted in significantly higher numbers than previous years due to the 1oz hitting 300,000.

Be interesting to see how many 2011 Kooks have sold. The 2009 and 2010 Kookaburra 1oz's reached their 300,000 production limits so I'm guessing 2011 will be getting there pretty quick smart.

I wonder if they will bring back the other size coins when they hit the 300k limit for the dragon? I don't think it will take long provided the design is good. In that case maybe if we are all good this year Santa will bring back the full typeset :D

300,000 mintage limit was reached today, Perth Mint not taking any more wholesale orders.

One buyer has strategically bought out the remaining wholesale mintage today...

You can still order from Perth Mint shop or Perth Mint online, while they have stock though.

Long time no see! :)

Hi Ben,

Yeah, it's been ages. I've been flat out working on a couple of projects with Tim mostly running the show here.

By the way - thanks to all the Stackers who have been using BB, have met up with a couple and spoken to quite a few, all nice people

Unfortunately not me though - I tried to stock up today and was told too late mate!!

I think it was an overseas retailer, they'll have a bit of a monopoly for a couple of months I'd think.

The larger coins have been put on backburner while a massive order for 1 kilo coins is being processed. This is occupying full time the larger press(es) used for the larger coins. The press used for the 1 oz coins won't do the job for the larger coins.

I wouldn't expect PM to resume taking orders for these larger ones for a couple of months.

Do we know which kilo coin they're doing?

I have very few 1oz coins. Most of my coins are the 5 and 10oz varieties. I like them much better, but they aren't so good when i want to swap to build the 1/2, 1 and 2oz collection.
