The take a risk part is key here. For several of the intl tiger sales, the extra dollars did not exceed the extra postage and fees. Then you add in the time and effort of filling out a custom form, having to go to the post office to pay the insurance, etc. and many sellers don't think it is worth it.

If they just allowed us to purchase. I have seen many a time I wanted too, but was not allowed.

Add the extra for freight. We know it costs more

We are prepared to pay a little higher at times, our $ is worth more

I would think the risk of an Australian Ebayers rip you off is very low

Extra time, you still need to go to the Post Office anyway don't you

Just a few reasons, why it may pay to list international, at least to Australia anyway

I just got off the phone with bullion bourse they are extremely busy and they do not know for certain but the 2004 1 oz Kookaburra inventory is nearly exhausted.

eBay makes it very easy when you sell within the US for sellers. All the paperwork can be generated and printed from home. You just drop it in your own mail box to ship and don't have to actually go to the post office and wait in line. Not so much the case when shipping internationally.

No, a lot of people don't need to go to the post office. My post office is only 2-3 blocks from my office and I still only go about 5-6 times a year.
Doesn't make any sense, but our postal service requires you to come in person and pay for insurance after you paid online for the postage. Having to go the post office and having to fill out the customs form make intl shipping much more difficult than local shipping. If you are selling one coin and making an extra $10, that isn't worth the time and effort required. If someone is a frequent overseas seller, there would be economies of scale. In the next month or two, I will see a client who is a major ebay seller. I will ask him if he sells intl.

I will usually sell Intl. but if it is through ebay I have to charge $40.00 (starting at) for express shipping that is the only way to be covered by ebay it is the only USPS service that offers tracking . Registered only tracks it until it leaves the country and ebay does not accept that, I learned the hard way. It is usually not worth it for the cost of shipping , but I sometimes tell people if they want to do a direct transaction I can give different shipping options. I used to ship stuff all the time for about $4.00 regular mail and everything went fine until some problems from Germany with customs delays , then a few people jumped the gun and immediately filed ebay claims got their money and the coins and that ruined it for everyone..

^ Rule 1. Never leave money in PayPal. I never ship anything until money has entered my bank account from PayPal. I have a specific bank account to accept the transfer from PayPal. As soon as I receive the money from PayPal I then move it to another bank account. I do this so if there is a dispute, there is no money in the PayPal account nor is there any money in the linked bank account for PayPal to steal.

sounds safe but too complicated for $50-$100 type transactions , and then you also have to make the customer wait, and if there is a problem you would not be able to receive any future pp funds at that account and have to close it. Plus I would be weary of giving anyone with bad intentions any ideas.

Although many of the restrike years are currently available at some bullion facilities, their are several buyers out there who support the secondary market. After all, is that not why the vast majority of silver stackers are involved in acquiring the asset in the first place. Like the majority of physical gold and silver, plenty of these low mintage coins are being shipped to Eastern destinations. Here are some more strong Kookaburra sales on ebay:

No hassle. You wait about 3 days for the money to come from PayPal to your bank account. Then with the click of a button it goes from one back account to the other, instantly. Now you post. 3 days handling time is quite reasonable for a customer to wait before posting. And in the end, better for them to wait a day or two than for me to be ripped off !

And if someone is trying to rip off on ebay over $50 or $100 its certainly worth my time to close that seller account and open a new one. What does the average person get paid an hour at work? $30 or so? But it takes probably about 15 minutes to open a new ebay account, which saves you say $100 then in effect I am being paid $400 an hour to click around on ebay opening a new account. Quite a nice hourly rate.

All are in US dollars so take 10% off in exchange rate differences and fees immediately. Ebay takes another 9% so the selling is getting 80% of the sale price in AUD. Then if you offer free post thats another $20 to send from Australia tracking international. So a $USD 80 sale less 20% = $64 less $20 post = $A44. About what you can sell some years on the forum here for.
