I sold on feebay a 2007 Silver carded kangaroo today for $470 + $25 post to a guy in Germany. This has to be a record for this coin? Not here to gloat but somewhat stunned that this coin someone would pay $500 for. I listed it on feebay at $499 as a bit of a test and sold for $470 within about 5 days. Will this go to $1,000 ?!?!

interesting! After reading this, went to feebay and saw the frosted uncirculated version (carded) for $25 included postage from a dealer located in Brisbane.... Confusing this business!!!!

It is Cu-Ni version, not silver.

Well done on the sale.

That repetitive dull thud you hear in the background is me banging my head against the wall, for not bidding higher and missing out on these on ebay a couple of years ago when they were selling for around $60!

is this the blue card or the green card?

There's a blue card version that was issued by Downies, then theres a brown/rust coloured version issued by "Global Promotions" who I've never hear of before or since. While both carded versions are pretty rare, the brown/rust coloured one is more rare.

Back in 2007, the RAM decided because of rising silver prices, to change their Kangaroo series to copper/nickle rather than the usual silver. So the copper/nickle versions were pumped out but a number of dealers/collectors complained there werent any silver ones. So in response the RAM made some silver ones but only a few, no more than about 5,000 total it seems before resuming the usual 20,000 silver mintage in later years. Hence 2007 has a much lower silver kangaroo mintage than any other year.

Late 2010 they were going for mid $50's and you could get any other year for mid $30's. Maybe I beat you in the feebay auctions? :) But it could be worse, you could have been the seller

I saw the 2007 blue card go for about $330 a few months ago on ebay via auction....amazing how this coin sells for so much. The 2008 Mombassa is the second best, it seems to go in the low $100 s. All carded Kangas seem to have gone up by about $20 in the last year or so. Will be interesting to see what happens with the 2012, issue price is $87!!!! Double last years. So that means the 2012 is already the 3rd most expensive Kanga and it just got released. I wonder if they will sell the 20000 mintage at that price???

^^^ Yes the 2012 in its first few weeks was $60 then the mint put them up to $87 using the excuse of "rising silver prices" which is of course the usual nonsense. I suppose they need a reason, no matter how flimsy, to justify what they are doing.

$87 for a carded 2012 and $100 for a proof. In any event, no 2012 Kangaroo for me. The earlier ones you can sometimes still pick up for a reasonable price.
