2000 Guangzhou Panda

Through the good-hearted kindness of yennus many of us on this forum were fortunate enough to score these 2000 Guangzhou Panda's at great prices.

Although I typically do not grade my commemoratives it was just too tempting to leave this one in the box so I immediately sent it off for conservation/grading.

Well the time has come and my submission is in the "quality control" phase so I'm anxiously waiting for the grade Hopefully a 69 !!!

NGC Census:

122 total graded

MS70 2 (1.5%)
MS69 98 (80%)
MS68 15 (12%)
MS67 5 (4%)
MS66 2 (1.5%)

I shipped from my office as soon as it arrived so I never had a chance to look at it through my loupe but by just putting my eyes on it it looked very nice. I guess we will see how good/bad my eyesight actually is.

Thor122 also has one 2000 GZ in the grading phase along with some coins he sent for grading but his order is still at NCS as it was a week behind mine waiting on his other coins to arrive here to ship with his GZ panda. His 2000 GZ looked equally as nice so I'm hoping we both score.

Only 2 70's out of 122 coins does not give us good odds at getting one but we can always hope :D

Sorry i still very new to this grading thing. Can anyone put an MS70, MS69, and MS68 side by side. I'd like to see the difference. Do they give you the reasoning as to why they come up with the grade?
Cheers! :)

Honestly with the naked eye in many cases you would not be able to see a difference between a 68, 69 or 70.

I am hesitating to send mine from Yennus as I got only one in OMP . :(

+1

thor ... I'm sure you noticed how the 1989 MS68 I sent you looked simply amazing didn't it?

Like I told you in it's "previous life" this coin was an MS69 in a PCGS holder ... :)

It's already started !!!

Yes after seeing this 2000 GZ I had to send it in for grading ! I decided not to disturb any of my commemoratives from their boxes so I just went out and purchased a few each of these "gilt" pandas as well.

(2) 2004 1 oz Silver Chinese Panda - Bejing Coin Expo - NGC MS69
(2) 2005 1 oz Silver Chinese Panda - Bejing Coin Expo - NGC MS69
(1) 2006 1 oz Silver Chinese Panda - Bejing Coin Expo - NGC MS69

To me they just look so much better once graded and can be seen shiny & glistening in their clear holder. The double sealed OMP just does not do these coins any justice and reveal their true beauty.

I'm hoping the 2000 GZ comes back 69 to join the gilded group !!!

For some reason I have really starting liking the commemoratives much more and have been picking up graded 69's at every chance I get.

The 04 & 05 Beijing Expo pandas are next on my shopping list... I just need money :P

Yes fishy these along with the 2006 can be pricey (sometimes) but they are nice looking ... it's odd that I never really liked these gilt but now I love them !

I have the 98 gilted expo panda as well but could not convince myself to send it in for grading so he made it safely back to the bank box without being tampered with ! :D

They are very expensive :(

If you see any bargains grab them for me please :D

I will sacrifice a few lunches to pay you for them haha.

I love Gilt Chinese coins but I hate Perth Mint Gilt coins... they're really the same thing so I don't know why that is.

Gilt 99 GuanYin one of my favorite Gilts followed closely by the 99/98 + 08 banknote Gilt Bears.

No but my wife is although she collects nail polish (seriously like 200 bottles) and I collect pandas :D
