This came into the shop last week. Perth Mint product, edge lettered 5 TROY OUNCES, 999 FINE SILVER and 0058. Front has first six months of the calendar and THE PERTH MINT 1994 WESTERN AUSTRALIA, back has the remaining six months of the calendar and YEAR OF THE DOG.

Clearly it was issued in 1994. Anyone have any information as to mintage or how many years the PM issued these? I can find some similar calendar rounds from 1991-1993 but nothing lunar like this.

@Golden ChipMunk probably can shed some info.

The Calender 5 oz have been discussed here before, They are not very popular during the time of released, hence many have been melted down.
Population may be lesser than issued , estimated 1000, time of released. The dog one maybe lesser.
Some of them may also Serialised at the rim. The finished are the antique gunmetals looks and doesn't comes with capsules.
The info can be found in medals or medallion round.

Adding more informations on similar 5 oz round, info that I found.

1992 Perth Mint 5ozt Silver Calendar Medallion

Front: Rampant swan at centre, calendar around

Back: Date above Perth Mint building, calendar around

Diameter: 64mm | Thickness: 5mm | Weight: 155.52g

Purity: 99.90% | ASW: 5.00 ozt

This hefty medal has been struck to impeccable proof standard.

We understand that just 5,000 of these medallions were struck, as part of a short-lived series that was issued across 1991 through to 1993.

This particular medallion is accompanied by the stand, and remains in the original cardboard presentation case.
