1817 sovereign great britain...

Hi all,

Just bought a 1817 great britain sovereign and wanted to see what some of you think.. I've not got many sovereigns and not much of an expert so would like to understand more about this coin..

Nice coin, about aVf in my opinion, possibly cleaned. May of slightly overpaid but its a scarcer coin so bullion value is less relevant.

My favourite Sov .... I have one, but it has been worn as jewellry.

Worth $100 over a bullion Sov easy. I'm always looking for em.
 
Hi.. I paid about $480 for it.. the web link is not where I got it from.. will post pictures when I get the time.. I was initially worried cause its my first sov and the words around the horse made it suspicious but my gut said it was real so I just went ahead.. haha..

Who would have thought its the first sov..

According to my oracle 1817 was the first year of the sovereign and the mintage was 3,235,239 hence classed as Normal.
Nice one to start a collection though - well done !
