These are not bad coins to invest. While not the hottest Lunar animals the mintage should be low enough (once Perth posts their numbers) to make it a worthwhile purchase
If you don't mind the brain tap, what are the better lunar coins to look at please?
Which coins fetch highest premiums can easily change over the life of the series and over time after the series. If you are looking to buy now, the coins with the highest premiums may NOT be the best to buy because there's no guarantee they will retain highest premiums. Instead, look at which premiums are lower and what each particular year's release might mean. For example, I always favor trying to buy a majority of coins from the first year of the series. Series 1 Lunars was 1st issue came in 1999, Year of the Rabbit while series 2 was 2008, Year of the Mouse. The interesting thing about 2008, besides being first year release of series 2, is that it was also the first year of overlap of series 1 and series 2 Perth Lunar coins. It could mean that initially less of each series for that year was purchased and later, these collectors may want to catch up to what they didn't get at the time because that was a double Lunar coin release.
It happened again in 2009 and 2010.
It seems like at this time, and maybe for not much longer, you can still get some good deals on eBay for 2008 Perth Lunar Mouse. If you find it for under $50 USD, that's a very good deal these days.
