10 oz coins v 10 oz bars?

Is there a preference in general?

It looks like you can get Perth mint 10 oz coins for roughly the same price as minted bars. I prefer minted pieces, but maybe the coins are not as liquid? Might they be harder to sell in future? Or will people not care if there is no premium?

thoughts?
 
FWIW the Perth mint 10oz coin is my favorite out of all of them. The diameter / width ratio is spot on and they are sexy as hell IMHO. I can't see any issues dumping them over a 10 oz bar
 
If anything the 10oz coins will be easier to sell.... Legal tender and that
 
Just made me weigh a 10 oz bar , I got 10.97 oz using 2 diff scales, wonder if that happens a lot? Bar is marked 10ozs
 
if all is equal always go the coins. Most of the time coins are more expensive though.

If you are starting out then my advice would be to just concentrate on building your stack, bang for your buck etc, which usually would mean bars over coins.
 
I like the size of the 10oz coins, nice proportions and all that but having said that...

The designs can be rubbish, the koala and the snake do nothing to add to the product in my view.

However the dragon on the other hand is awesome, the coin might become collectible, the bar probably not.

Having said that the legal tender status means the gov could ask for it back and give the dollar equivalent.

Having said that maybe the coin is less likely to be faked as it is more of a crime.

Deos your scale weigh in troy ounces or av ounces? That may explain it.

It should be 311 grams

Coins all the way....theyre purtier!

Even though bars are awesome too(Stackers Bars are great)they dont hold as much premium over time i reckon and can be faked easier. Take a look at a 10 Oz Dragon Coin its freekin awesome.

Then on the flip side youve got the latest Kook which IMHO looks crap.
 
meh I like bars: better for storage, no need to worry about scratches and milk spots, no need for a plastic capsule

I have both but I like bars for this reason, you can't really dig a hole and put some coins in now can you.
Well I guess you could but it will destroy any potential numi value in the future :P

So bars are great to treat rough and man handle them or get down and dirty, coins if you don't mind a bit of high maintenance to keep em pretty :)
 
If they cost the same, I would go with the coin at present.

One of the few advantages of coins is in a deflationary period. Is there a risk? Hope not.

Storage in ground is fine - it's called airtight and a box .
