cool pic; how much ore requires processing

That's 34.8 g/ton. Most mines now probably haven't got ore grades any better than 5 - 10 g/ton, and that may be too generous. So that pile of ore you are looking at to get your 30g bar of gold is probably a lot closer to 3 - 6 tons in size. I've read of ore grades of 240g/ton, but obviously...

    Question on soveign typeset

Like a small bag of mixed lollies - no two coins are the same (different king/queen on each one). It's kind of like, the opposite of a type-set... Bill

    Something just doesn't add up...

Silver will certainly get to $500 around the time when things like bread cost $20 - $30 a loaf and milk is $10 or $15 dollars a litre. Depending on where you live this may happen sooner rather than later. Bill

How can I support the local economy...

I'm the same, if it is only a little bit of a price difference i will always buy local, First choice at a town level, then my capital city/State, then Australia. When it is so much of a price difference though, I think it is a no brainer. In the long run though I know this method of purchasing...

How can I support the local economy...

when identical items can be bought and shipped to Oz for less than half the price? Point in case - The starter motor and relay components on my motorbike went kaput. The genuine replacement parts in Oz was going to cost me $1150 ! I nearly fell off my chair when the bike shop was telling me...

    Got a fake bar

Looks to me to be 'just' a metal detector that has an internal library of the conductivity of all the possible metal % for different coins / bars. If the tested metal is the right % then the indicator bar falls between the brackets. I'm sure it covers all the common coins/bars but there'd be...

    New silver mine... perhaps

Not sure if it is a listed company or not? If it was, with this now being in the news, any drilling success in terms of finding the mother lode would probably already be factored into the share price. Meaning any disappointment would then result in a drop in share price. Probably not the best...

Today in my change I was given...

whoops...getting crappy old coins in my change,,, numismatics was the last area I was thinking of to check for a thread. I didn't think they were really all that collectable. To be honest I have actually never even looked in the numismatic coin area. I guess I should broaden my horizons...

    Perth Mint freight charges

Also their weight calculator must be out sometimes. I have paid for X amount of Kg of postage and when it arrived their weight written on the package by them was a full 1.1 Kg less than paid for... so they get a free $17.50 for nothing. Didn't bother asking for refund. Should of I suppose...

ANSWERED: Could I have some fakes? (10oz Perth Mint)

I have recently received a 10 oz bar direct from the Perth Mint with exactly that same brushed finish. As the OP said, it looks like they have been hit with steel wool for a good scrubbing down. Bill
