Stupid question time, what exactly is in the price guide? Is it a monthly thing like Pricepedia, or a one-off publication? Are there photos or just text? Would someone who can only read English be able to work out what anything means in it? Definitely interested, pending the above :)

However, keep in mind that the set has been put together by a 3rd party and the panda coin is not in original mint packaging. But interesting to see them all together as a package.

Who/what is GS? Were any photos of the item available? Have you tried contacting them?

Rbaggio's numbers match what I have, which were sourced from the mint. My prediction is that this year will be a massive mintage for the Koalas (due to the sellouts of the Dragons and Kooks), so older year Koalas will see a nice spike as their "rarity in the series" will increase.

There are still stated mintage limits on the gold pandas. For example, the 2012 1oz Panda is 600,000.

Also important to find out whether you are a collector or investor. If I was only "collecting" and could spend let's say $3000/year, I would prefer to be adding a small coin every month or two instead of one big one a year, at least to start with. I believe that there are bargains around...

Just remember with the 2012 Pandas that it will be the highest mintage limit they have ever seen. While it would be nice to have a few of them they don't have the same restricted supply drivers as older years, so are unlikely to see the same sort of gains. I think the Lunars are a pretty safe...

+1 for doing the same. There are a large variety on eBay all for about those prices. I also have slabs in bigger ziplock bags.
