have a lot of old members vanished with the site update?

feels somehow less intimate, although I can't put my finger on why. normally takes me a week to get a feel for a new forum though. less spam bots?

have a lot of old members vanished with the site update?

haven't been around since the update, looks like a lot of regulars are not so regular anymore? Either that or I just have to get used to the new paint.

2017 1oz Silver Swan from Perth Mint, Mintage 25000

hehe, don't be so dismissive. I know for a fact there are people in this very thread smart enough to cash in on the hype despite contributing to it :P

2017 1oz Silver Swan from Perth Mint, Mintage 25000

I'm not touching that one, other longterm members might have something to say about it though.

2017 1oz Silver Swan from Perth Mint, Mintage 25000

I agree it has potential, more than most even, but it ticks all the boxes of being a crapshoot to me. I think it's a very smart buy if your intention is to sell into the hype, but i'd suggest against a longterm hold based purely on historical odds. My biggest concern with stuff like this is...

2017 1oz Silver Swan from Perth Mint, Mintage 25000

Very curious to see if it has any sticking power or whether all the money will be made in short term flipping. exclusive releases generally fizzle out as the months progress, having said that the design should have a broader appeal than most. Would have pounced on it if the market was healthier.

    received damaged bars question

really need to see photos to pass judgement, I wouldn't be concerned with minor damage on bars - perfectly normal. If the weight is correct then you'll find their policy of offering a replacement is in line with most dealers.

FAKE soon to appear as authentic 1 oz Perth gold bar

Shouldn't be allowed to sell it at all, regardless of how it's advertised. Perth mint needs to protect their products and monitor ebay far better than they do currently.

"Hell, I don't want to hear a lecture on VAMs..."

extactly. Numismatics can take years to flip, the higher you go up the chain the smaller your market gets.

Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

in the literal sense it is subjective, agreed. If you consider in the coin market that history defines what is safe money, then 20-25 years of consistent gains is as safe as it gets. There are only 3 semi numismatic series running over decades, an incredible accomplishment to have decades of...

Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

It's possible, but to be frank I don't think the quality is good enough to see these get a second wind now. You need to maintain interest and garner momentum with early releases in a series, failure to do that and it doesn't take a betting man to plot the future. It is honestly very difficult...

Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

When the precious metals market is slow, it's stuff like this that gets hit hard and fast- anything that you can define as a fad (modern collector coins if you will). Bullion follows spot, and as such is predictable. proper numismatics follow the numismatic market, again, prices are predictable...

    Dinner with our neighbours

They are big on property at the moment, particularly the outer western suburbs of Melbourne where several new estates are being built at an incredible pace. Have been watching over the last year, bridgefield, thornhill, woodlea and atherstone - all estates that have risen from nothing in the...

Silver - a store of value? Really?

First up, don't use an " " with someone unless you're looking to start an argument, and if you are, I wouldn't. Gold is all of the above, it is desirable for that reason and i'm not debating there are more - not toxic, malleable, even pretty if you want to grasp at straws. I am not...

Silver - a store of value? Really?

Ostriches are not an element though - If your average Joe can breed gold into existence then that would be a problem for the price...
