Perh Mint - 2017 Star Trek Spock Mirror, Mirror coin?

It is on Perth Mint website now. Limited mintage of 3,000. Sell price is AUD115.00 Not a fan of the design (just my opinion) but I guess would appeal to diehard trekkie fans.

    World coins question

I store low-value world coins in plastic sheets with pockets. It's cheaper, easier to store, and view. That's just works for me, but everyone has their own system. Sometimes it is trial and error. In regards cleaning, I tend to not bother. Exception is round fifties - soak for a week in a...

    RCM 10 oz Niagra Falls.

The obverse portrait of QEII is a bit weird. They've gone with a VERY young looking image.

    My favourite coin jar

I agree with HoldmeTender. Also they are physically a nice size, can be handled, they store easily, easily recognisable, and are not prone to copies/fakes. For me I guess there's also some nostalgic attraction. I also like 1964 Kennedys for similar reasons.

Great new bullion series from the Royal MInt: The Queens Beasts

Love to find someone selling a capsule to suit. Closest I could find is on ebay from an Air-Tite dealer in Minnesto. On eBay, search by Black Capsule Tube & 10 X Deep 39mm Air-Tite Black Ring Holders for 2oz Stackers The freight cost to Aus is the problem, of course. Should any interested...

what is after the Perth Mint 2014 Australian Saltwater Crocodile 1oz

Hey Fishtaco Are you saying that because Kangas are milk spotting (like the FWS do) ? I have just a few Kangas, and noticed they have milk spotted already. I don't have any FWS, but I hear they are pretty bad as well. I have some crocs, but they seem OK (touch wood). Or is there some other...

    newbie seeks advice

I think Fishtaco is 100% spot on with his advice, but I could add a few other suggestions 1. Many people will warn away from high premium numis, especially coloured coins. Which is probably sound. But if there is a series you really like, what the hell, splurge. You only live once 2. I keep a...

What do you do with numismatic packaging containing batteries?

Interesting dilemma. Do you know what sort of batteries are in them ? AA,AAA, or the small "button" ones ? If its the small button ones, they probably wont leak. Are the batteries pre-inserted ?

Today I found in my change...............

Found a 2015 Rememberance Day Orange ring $2 coin in change. Gee I didn't think it would get into circulation that quick.

    10oz Snowflake

Interesting design, and I suspect that the photos don't do justice to the "micro engraving" Presumably it does not come encapsulated

Today I found in my change...............

Every time I get change, I check for shiny, and colored $2 coins. When one of my 3 kids are watching, they roll their eyes and make some sort of smart ar$& remark. Are other SS members subject to similar derision from their close family/cheeky teenage children? Just wonder'in.

Negative ROI For Royal Australian Mint Proof Coin Sets

The proof sets, particularly early to mid 1980's, have not held value at all. There is no silver in those sets, so it is numismatic value only. IMO it is just indicating a declining interest in those sort of pursuits/hobbies. Stamps even more so.

Are the silver coins with color images at 500% cost worth it?

Nice problem to have. Show them the Perth Mint brochure on the Kookas and Koalas release. Maybe they will take the hint

Are the silver coins with color images at 500% cost worth it?

Yes, the coloured coins have high premium, but also may have longer term collector value which will keep the price high. Just depends. Some numismatics have done extremely well, some have not. Why some, and not others ? I wish I knew. Perhaps related to mintage numbers, marketing hype, subject...
