I got a pair simply because I like the design and got the extra as a nice gift for a nephew on Xmas.
I think there are better investments to make than these coins but it shouldn't be too hard to liquidate em in the future with it's premium.
I kinda think the same way as well. Yet, I see people continuously spend above that premium in coins such as the Tigers and Oxes. I've thought the sweet spot for the Dragons currently is where it is right now, mid $60s to $70.
On EBay (worldwide auctions) I've seen the Oxes clear easy over $100...
This is certainly true. The dragon mania has pushed up all of the coins in the lunar 2 series and indirectly it has carried over to other coins like some of the subsets for Perth Mint.
There were other factors why the dragons were a bubble, it was also the fact that they had so much hype behind them (PM website crash, third party shops getting the short end of the stick, silver was back on the rise, etc, etc)
While I hate pointing fingers, I think pointing one at the Perth...
I personally don't see much of a bubble with any of the coins and the biggest bubble that came were the BU 1 oz dragons. They went from $100 to about $70 but expect that number to pick up again as we roll around 2012 (this is with the assumption if silver price stays the same)
Don't forget the...
I'd get the 1 oz proofs simply because you more options when you want to liquidate. Liquidate your type set coin and it's "See Ya". With your 1 oz proofs you can liquidate at today's prices, another coin when silver hits $50/oz and so on.
So some of you heard already. No silver dragons (1/2, 2 and 5 oz) coins till Jan 2012 via PM (according to BB)
Supposedly in Jan 2012 is when production starts. "Supposedly"
Just checked out the coin. Kinda neat looking for a "Puff the Magic Dragon" look. (I know I'm in the minority :D ) I like em and think they make good gifts for kids introducing them to silver as a hobby. Two thumbs up from me and put an order for one coin.
Yeah, what the peeps said here. More or less $60 at,the moment. The thing is that the 2010s have been affected a tad bit with spot price (moreso with the 2011s which makes it a good time to stock up on these). But the 2010s have still appreciated a lot nevertheless, and time alone will make them...
Very nice, fishball.
Mucho gracias ;)
I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay some good money for these dragon coins. I have some money set aside at the moment for
1. 2002 Pandas (only double bagged, they are soo liquid but it's a challenge to find them at a good price froma reputable...
These dragon subsets are starting to give me a headache. Color proof, 1/2 proof, 9 coin Asian series, 5 oz color Asian series, baby dragon, color non-proof, regular proof, 3 coin proof, 4 coin typeset, etc
Sigh
Hmmmm, just series II Tigers have seen prices go upwards $100 and Apmex sells them for $109 wih their inventory being depleted. eBay tigers for series I are a super rare find and the proofs impossible as well (unless you pay $350)
Series I Lunars for top tier go between $120-150 (aside from...
ThNks for the reply. You are not the only one who has been disappointed with expectations of kooks. I have been there as well.
Until now.
While it does seem disappointing for a Kook to get double the return, you have to understand that the auction was for US/Canada only. Worldwide auctions...
2002 Pandas are one of THE hottest coin at the moment IMO for the Panda series as I'm too head hunting for these coins mainly! I've been selling some of my coins just to buy the 2002s and now that I see you have "carded coins", the only thing I want to do is drool! Those coins look super...
