    short term trade $US

Above the $1200USD resistance level again. Some people are predicting the greenback to start depreciating against a basket of currencies after a pretty stellar run (up over 20% against a basket of currencies over the last year or so).

    My First Silver Purchase

Nice! I hope to start stacking silver soon also. Price is relatively cheap, however the Australian dollar (my local currency) has taken a bit of a hit so it costs about the same as it did a year ago, as shown in this chart: http://www.ptcalc.com/silver-investment-performance-history.php

Apple to buy 1/3rd of annual gold supply for Apple Watch....

Thank you. I see where I went wrong. They expect 1 million Apple watches per month. I also used short tons not metric tonnes in calculation. 62.2 metric tonnes x 12 months = 746.4 tonnes According to this site, 2014 production is estimated to be 2860 tonnes...

Gold-to-Silver Ratio at 74 - Silver relatively cheap

Silver is looking relatively cheap compared to gold at the moment. My guess is since it is an industrial metal (as well as a precious metal) it is taking a beating due to subdued growth forecasts out of China and Europe. According to Wikipedia "Silver as an Investment" - "the average...

Apple to buy 1/3rd of annual gold supply for Apple Watch....

What have I done wrong? (Can someone please tell me the arithmetic error below - I seem to be out by a factor of 10) 1 million x 2 troy ounces x 31.1 grams / troy ounce x 1 kg / 1000 grams x ton / 907.18 kg = 68.6 tons 1 million watches @ $10k a pop is pretty ambitious sales target.

Gold and Silver prices - 2012 update

Great chart. Has taken a couple hits over the years but cumulatively it seems to be a very good return. The trend will comtinue with the debt situation around the World.

200m Worth of Au Found in Tiny Scottish Village

I don't chase penny stocks. Too risky. Buy good old gold, silver, platinum. I have worked for mining companies they are not very well run businesses.

unfortunately i have to sell my stack

Yes, I know the feeling. I lost my job recently and had to sell some gold. Oh well, good to have some hard currency to get you through the tough times.

Swiss franc not pegged to euro any more

Apparently the sudden move caused waves in the derivatives market. A few big banks were on the wrong side of the trade and lost a fair bit of money.

2015 Aussie coins in Melbourne for Australia Day

That's pretty cool. Did anyone go and take up the offer?

    Melting jewellerly

Agree, better to sell old pieces for melt and buy new or second-hand. I have bought some second-hand jewellery from pawnbrokers before and got it much cheaper than retail.

Silver-to-Gold Ratio Supports a Silver Price Rally

I agree, I like the oil-to-gold ratio. Makes sense given oil effects inflation so much as it is literally used in all production somehow. Silver is very cheap at the moment. It has had a good bounce in 2015 so far.

    Perth Mint Platinum Platypus

I love the design of the Australian Platinum Platypus. I am in Australia. The price above spot at the moment is around $120 - compared with PAMP bar $100 and Baird and Co $70. Probably not massive in terms of percentage. I always try to buy low premium as usually only get spot on resale.
