Great Balls of Odin! How do we choose which coin to buy?

Received a mailer from Maquarie Mint today for the Cook Islands Norse Gods collection (http://www.macquariemint.com/odin). They are selling the coins for $199 each with free postage and handling on the first and $9 on the additional ones. They're being released once a month and looks like it...

I got billed today by Downies for the one I bought, so it sounds like they might be shipping them soon in Australia.

Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

Yep. $550 AUD for two coins to Perth Bullion... Still haven't been informed by them about any delays. I'm not feeling horrifically put out by the delay, but I do kind of agree with some of the complaints about lack of communication or poor communication. It's annoying getting told on Sept...

I'm guessing they'll go with a trilobite next. Going to a dinosaur next seems like too big a jump. On the other hand, maybe they'll include plants as well. In that case, expect a fern leaf. Fossilized insect and fish would also be likely designs before you get to dinosaurs.

Perth Mint Numismatic Success anyone ?

Wait a few months/years and pick it up at auction for less? It seems like paying retail for coins from any mint is a losing bet in most cases. There was a thread started earlier in the Numistatics forum titled "Negative ROI For Royal Australian Mint Proof Coin Sets" that says pretty much the...

The Evolution coin is currently for sale on the downies.com website. They are charging AUD $199 for the coin with a 1 per household restriction. They also have the peacock listed for $179 and apparently no purchase limits. ETA: Might be a nice coin to buy for flipping... Currently selling for...

Where do you buy your coins?

I've been finding coin auctions to be a really good option. Noble Numistatics (noble.com.au) is having one in November. There seem to be at least a one or two other options in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Edlins in Canberra is having an auction this weekend, though I'm finding the catalog...

Sincerly mmissinglink and they'll likely send it...

    Today I bought ... ( Numismatics Only )

Cheating a bit as I bought this one a few months ago, but finally took the picture today. It's an 1830 half-penny from Ireland/Canada. I thought it was amusing that they were apparently copper stackers back then... [/imgz] If you can't read the text, it says "Pure copper preferable to paper"

Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

Went in for a couple... The Perth Bullion price is about $194 US. I got the invitation from Downie's but they are way more expensive than Perth Bullion... Perth Bullion is charging $275 AUD with free shipping while Downie's is charging $349 + $9.90 postage and handling (though the number of...
