Intergenerational wealth, how is it done?

I've heard one strategy is to make wealth skip a generation. So if you work hard and make a lot of $ you don't give it to your kids other than to help them start off on the right foot. Then when the grandkids come to a working adult age you give your wealth to them (after they've already learned...

What's your sale point? Do you have one?

My silver stack has just now doubled from my initial stack I was left by my great grandmother (all US 90% silver). I have slightly more 999 silver than I do 900 junk (by ASW). Unless I am in need of cash to pay bills, some other living expense or the price of PMs go stupid high my plan is to...

New 1.25 oz Canadian Silver Bison Coin

The only milk spots I have on Canadian coins are maples I've purchased from other folks instead of dealers and the one falcon I got last year. Too bad because I liked that design. Anyway most of my maples are still ok. Maybe I just have an ideal storage environment?

    I got a job!

Wow $2100 is decent cash for a pay period. Once converted out from AUD to USD it is more than I am pulling down every two weeks. It sounds like you have a pretty good job. I just had to get a "new" car. It is new to me anyway. My '99 Corolla finally died and is going off to the junk yard. I...

US sliver dollars, Morgans vs peace dollars

If all things are equal and neither are key dates I would favor Morgan over Peace because I think the design is stronger. If none are key dates than I would favor those in best condition. But if the price is good and close to spot I'd grab as many up as you can. That's me though.

    Silver price up, unhappy ?

Yeah I'm sad to see it go up. I think silver is still a good buy right now. Gold at almost $1300 not as much. I'm sure we'll see more lows and more highs; tis the nature of the beast.

So who actually buys regular metal bars/coins on ebay?

I've picked up most of my gold pesos and francs on ebay and paid spot or less for most of them. There are good deals if you look. Also even if there is no "Best Offer" button you can email the seller and ask. What I can never figure out is why people get in bidding wars for bullion coins from...

    scrap gold

I would just hold the scrap unless you really want the coin. Scrap will get you spot or less and then the premium on the coin will cost you some too. Unless the scrap is a bunch of ugly broken chains or something I'd just keep it. That is my opinion though YMMV.

    paper platinum group metals?

Hello all, Thanks for the replies. I am really interested in platinum group metals but I wouldn't be dropping large amounts of cash at once so I don't think the ETFs will work for me. My funds for investment are small but regular. Even with an online discount broker the fees would eat up too...

    paper platinum group metals?

Hi whinfell, Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned I'm in the US. I'm assuming if I am in the US I cannot buy ETFs on the ASX?

    paper platinum group metals?

Hello all, I am interested in diversifying a little bit into the platinum group metals. Unlike my gold and silver which I have physical I think I would rather have my platinum group investments in paper. I think it is because it will get confusing for me trying to add bits of PT and PD to the...

    Tools for PM stacking

A "tool" that I use for stacking is an excel spreadsheet. This helps me track price/oz, premiums paid, total ounces of AGW and ASW for old coins, etc. Obviously not a test for fake PMs but still a very valuable tool to have.

    question from new stacker

I would suggest you spend some time reading through the threads here. They are filled with advice and different perspectives on stacking. Some folks want ounces. Whatever they can find for the lowest price; bars, rounds, coins, junk. Other folks stack the rare antique or semi numismatic...

    Today I Bought...

Today I used my Ebay Bucks to help buy some silver Britannias. Between the low silver prices and the ebucks taking an extra 10% off I've averaged down my Britannia cost by $1.76 per opunce! I'm very excited about this. I also made an offer on a 10 francs gold coin (I offered spot for it, plus...

Pay student debt or buy silver?

A friend of mine is learning a very valuable lesson right now, good credit is often times better than cash. He comes from a very wealthy family and he lives off of a trust fund. He always has a lot of cash and always pays for everything in cash. He's never had a credit card or even a debit card...

what did everyone for christmas silver wise?

Well I got a silver 10 francs coin 1965 with Hercules on it, a 1992 1/20 oz Libertad, a 1909 Barber quarter, a 1964 1000 yen coin and 5 RCM Maple leaves. None were presents really, just stuff I ordered right before the holiday but close enough.

    I got a job!

When you get OT do they pay you a special over time rate? When I work OT (anything over 40 hours per week) I get paid 1.5 times normal pay. If I work a holiday I get paid 2.5! I'm a little sad because we get OT rate all winter break between Xmas eve through New Years day and I am only working...
