Just been reading about coin 2, a 40 Para from Egypt (under the administration of the Ottoman Empire - an empire that lasted some 600years!).

The obverse (2nd of the images) bears the name of the Sultan, Abdul Aziz, underneath is an E shape with a dot after it, E = 4, the dot thing is 0, so it's 40! Apparently under that is P for para, though I can't find any info on the arabic letters that look like that.

The reverse has a l = 1, a backwards 7 = 2 and VV = 77, so in the Islamic year of 1277 Abdul Aziz ascended the throne. At the top is a l = 1 and a dot again = 0, so it's the 10th year of the reign of Abdul Aziz. So the coin was minted in 1287 (1277 +10).

Now the Islamic calendar began in 622 AD when Mohammed emigrated to Medina. So 1287 + 622 = 1909, but on average the Islamic year is 11 days shorter than ours, but because I can't do the math I use this: info.charm.ru/library/AHxAD%20Converter.doc to work out the coin was minted in about 1870 and yes, according to my research it is copper but it doesn't look like it in the photo.

Boy, I've had a good night :) Watched the Reds beat the Rebels (so they should've) and then played "Mmmm....let me identify that for you". I think I got myself a little roger.

Well done thucy for recognizing the coin at least 4 hours ago.

The image on the obverse is the Sultan's Toughra, it was his seal, and on the bottom of the image sultan's name is incorporated - if you look at similar coinage
during the reigns of another sultan, you should notice that the lines ON THE BOTTOM of the toughra are different.
That image also looks like a PEACOCK with a bent neck as if it were eating something of the ground.

The letter P and the reason that you were not able to find it is due to the fact that Arabs DO NOT HAVE A LETTER P in their script, but other nations (persians, pakistanis, turks, etc) that
used the arabic script and who had the letter P, than made up the letter.

i collect the Turkish kurush coins ( which are silver ) and look similar to that copper.

the reverse says " Dariba fi Misir " - struck in Misir ( Egypt ), the coins which were struck in other mints of the Ottoman empire ( Constantinople & Misir make up probably 80% + of all coins )
cost a lot more and some collectors look for the same coin, which was struck in different mints.

The Islamic year is shorter than the Gregorian year, due to the fact that they use the Lunar Calendar.

The large one is i believe a 20 Kurush silver coins
-its 0.8300 Ag and is 0.6419 oz asw 24.055 grams

** minted in Constantinople by the way

the 2nd one ( looks the same as the first one, but if u look at the calipers, you will see that its shorter )
is probably the 5 Kurush coins ( possibly the 10 K - check if the weight of the 1st one is roughly around 4 times of the
    2nd one )

    I offer you $30 AUD ( spot + 12% ) for both of them 20 & 5 K + $2 for regular postage ( buyer bears risk )

    5 Kurush - 0.1605 oz asw

the other copper coins are nice-ish but nothing major - if u really really need the mintages and such, than id do it - but
at that condition, not worth it much imo

First, THU73, I think these are 2 photos of the same coin...

Second, are we in a tender/auction situation in regards with those coins ?

Thucy, Dom is right it is the same side of the same coin.
I will post the other side.I might ad that I was so sure it was silver that it got the bi-carb on metal Aspam treatment.
WRONG THING TO DO.!!!??ah well.Look they will be sold so feel free to make honest offers as the lady has no intrest andless knowledge than me and I have none!!But can pick silver at best. She wants a horse so all will be considered.I will put offers in order if people want to make public bids on the thread. The NG 1 mark could be a gem so will shelve that till I find out more.I have looked at auctions not ebay and the lowest i can find is 190.00 us. I could not grade a coin but a good look will give me a good idea of wear and dings. This one comes up quite nicely. Over to you.

It is actually the same coin,

i looked at the caliper setting from coin below and deduced that it is a shorter coin.

    * i am not sure if we are in an auction environment - i sometimes like to place the bids.
anyways, SPOT + 12% for the 20 Kurush is my bid.
