    Better late than never.

The mintage policy actually saved many other coins from being re-struck and...brought about the declaration of many bullion and collector coins. :)

Are all originals square capsules or just the 1991? I found a few Square capsuled and the rest are all round...(I have 1 from every year as part of my personal collection).

I liked the Dragon Privy Kooks from last year and bought multiple of those.

wsd, those capsules from 1997 for the coin of Princess Diana minted by P.mint for some country. So I assume those are original P.mint capsules.

of course it was a joke though I have these Diana coins in square capsules but too lazy to do this useless thing ... my kookaburras are perfect in round capsules ... Even more - round capsules are more air tight than square ones

Doesnt matter whether the square capsule is airtite. The original kooks have
a clear coating on them so they are protective.
It is only the remint one that doesnt have coating.

Never seen a kookaburra with a protective coating. Any particular years we are referring to?

Was he referring to lacquer coating on specimen that either comes in black pouch or green case? I have couple that start peeling off...will bring it around to the next meet if I remember..

    Sure have protective coating.
I was experimenting on them found out there is some sort of coating.
I don't think it is lacquer coating. Some water base stuff. Can be dissolved in hot water.

I don't know about a coating but I have lots if originals that were toned around the edges long before they started reminting.

If there is a coating it doesnt work!

Ask the mint if there is one.

The coating changed colour but the coin is still fine. Some parts of the coating probably failed and starts to oxidise.
I think all still fine. Don't worry too much.

When did Perth Mint stop issuing kooks in square capsules?
I have Kooks from each year and want to put together a non remint set.
I currently only have kooks in square capsules to 1993.
