In as much as international conflicts affects the precious metals complex, I noted tensions increasing this morning over Julian Assange. Apparently, the Brits plan to raid the Ecuadorian embassy, possibly even revocking its diplomatic status to get him to ... "Sweden". The ABC have an excellent summary of the situation here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-08-...ador-embassy-for-assange/4201880?WT.svl=news0 There's a cliche about "the first casualty of war is truth," I wonder if this is a temporal line in the sand where the war begins? Or at least emerges as more overt, perhaps.
Expect nothing less. The U.K/U.S.....Are brothers in crime. Threatening to storm another countries embassy, just shows you how much of thugs they have become. If a UK or US embassy got stormed they would squeal like little pigs to the rest of the world! How wrong it was, & we would have to listen to them sobbing like little children with powtted lips.......Get off our soil or we see this as an act of war. Naughty U.K
actually the UK DID squeal like a little pig when Iranian protesters gained access to their embassy in Tehran in November last year. (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-11-30/iranian-protesters-storm-british-embassy/3702930)
This whole affair is pretty pathetic. I wonder how many people actually believe that this is about the Swedish police wanting to question Assange over so-called sexual allegations... ? just how stupid do they think people are?? it looks more like a case where they (the west led by the US) think that they don't need to give any explanations and dont need to follow due course and therefore any half baked argument will do. And the Australian government is in co-hoots with these thugs ... 100%
Our government is sitting on their hands doing what big brother Sam tells it to. Weak, pathetic, morally devoid leaders. Impotent and incompetent. Sack the lot and start again, with reduced salaries and no perks.
I think they are all pooping themselves, just think what documents/ information and truths must be involved if he isn't silenced ! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON ALL OF THEM.
From Sovereign Man Date: August 16, 2012 In a way this is almost poetic. Assange is the man who exposed western diplomacy for the fraud that it is. That he would be sent to his death by an egregious violation of its most fundamental principle seems strangely appropriate. Regardless, the whole affair is perhaps the foulest example that western governments will ignore their own laws, or selectively apply them, whenever they see fit. Legal precedent means nothing. Rule of law means nothing. Free speech means nothing. Their own treaties mean nothing. It's unbelievable. Anyone in the west who honestly thinks he's still living in a free society is either a fool or completely out of touch. If that seems too radical an idea, consider that ECUADOR is now the only nation which stands to defend freedom and human rights against an assault from the United States, the United Kingdom, and their spineless allies. The west has just become a giant banana republic. Have you hit your breaking point yet?
I don't think anybody would argue that John Howard's behaviour resulted in most Australians feeling ashamed and without honour. We allowed a bully to beat up on an innocent, weaker opponent and instead of defending them, we joined in on the beating. Expect no more or less from Julia Gillard. I truly wish posters would stop treating their politics as they would treat their football team. The forums have the potential to offer a higher level of debate. Shouldn't we leave the partisan barracking to the MSM?
Quote "I din't think anybody would argue that John Howard's behaviour resulted in most Australians feeling ashamed and without honour." .......................... That's exactly what Howard made me feel. And all of my friends.Ashamed to be an Australian. People like Assange make me feel proud. A true Australian hero. You think Howard would have helped him? Americas deputy sheriff?
I dont think Assange is a good guy at all, i think he is a whinning mumma's boy who hates captialism and loves anarchy... He needs to face trial end of story. He needs to grow a backbone and he's a coward. In my opinion. Anarchy is a form of socialism - its left wing not right.
I watched a show that went into the incident and history of the events, by all accounts it is a farce. They were willing and active participants. One of the alleged actually put him up with board for a while. Anyway that was how it was portrayed, I am sure there is more to it than that. However from what I saw it does look like a setup FWIW ?
The Guardian is now officially a corrupt organ on state propaganda. Since when does use of a condom or not in a consensual act enter the definition of serious sexual assault, but I digress. The British government knows a little about propaganda and inconvenience, having refined the silencing of critics to a fine art. Now they threaten a foreign government with expulsion because an innocent man - quaint concept I know - has sought refuge from a blatant attempt to put him on a fast track to torture and death. Oh, no, wait, of course he'll get a fair hearing in Sweden, that bastion of law and order and human rights, and of course he'll get a fair trial in the USA where politicians have called for his death. Let's not forget our totally forgettable and insult of a prime minister who condemned him in lickspittle support of Big Brother USA. This whole affair reeks of Dreyfus and the silencing and persecution of a figurehead, lest others follow in his footsteps. Western society has become so tamed and accepting of propaganda they can't see what an immense step into worldwide totalitarianism this event is becoming.
