Is it possible to make the trading threads locked to the seller only
So nobody can make comments ,
Except for the person who started the thread.
That's how the selling threads work on the hotrod forum I'm on

It could save a lot of BS being thrown around in sales threads
    :D

IMHO ..the forum is already being micro managed to the hilt ...

Too many regs ..could become a nanny forum

    Just sayin' :)

Actually I think its the opposite. But people ruining the sales threads really annoys me and many other members not mention the seller of the item. If people don't like their offers, just say nothing. If you have a question that could potentially sabotage the sale, just PM it to the seller.[/quote]

And that way if somebody is asking a silly amount for something , the thread should slowly die a natural death ;)
A limited amount of "bump" would be a good thing to , just don't know if it's possible

While I understand what you are saying and it does happen, I personally find at times its a benefit to me to hear some comments that are made on my post
I am very conscience of bumping but also need to do it more sometimes for certain products that I need to bring to members attention before I close buy.

But you don't bump your items 3-4 times a day ;)
Or for 15 pages of bumps
    AND
    You are a sponsor ;)

Any topics not relevant, delete them? People would soon get the message...

Locking the topics would be too restrictive, apart from what was stated above, someone may ask for more information relating to the item that another member could answer.

Nanny forum? I'm with Oz the opposite is true.

Please limit the bumps - to allow a non productive read to die naturally

The OP was about limiting comment on sale threads ..seems to be gong off track.

Some of the members are newbies and (sometimes) post without the sophistication of older members..

Locking the the thread so only the OP can post could just stifle things a bit.If someone steps out of line ,say so in the thread or by PM . I have done that a few times ..and recieived some ribald comments :)

what about, if that's possible, giving the power to delete posts to the OP, only in the trades forum?

this way the OP can clean their own trash without bugging somebody else to do it. And lower some blood pressure... ;)

also, there's no sticky in the public trading forum to let the noobs know the written and unwritten etiquote.

    +1

As discussed in the original Etiquote thread, the ability of other members to effectively aid in the detection of potential scams is invaluable (or worth way more than the annoyance factor at any rate).

This was because that's how the hotrod forum operates , but that's a smaller community
And another rule they have that I like ;)
Any HATE replies will have that thread locked ;)

Just out of interst, is the forum new(ish)?

So many fishing, car etc forums I've lurked on don't last more than 3 years before they implode...

See how easy it is, you think you are doing something useful. Trying to curb a problem, is it a major problem to everyone, or is it a MAJOR problem to a few (?) what is the solution "lets put in some rules or locks" wow sounds awfully like a Government to me, and we know how we all like them :)

    Just sayin hey !
