I will keep comments out of sales threads, but if a listing contains an error of fact such as gold content of a coin I will correct it
But that's all you ever do How could anybody flame you for that When you picked me up on the birdies , I didn't mind , I "assumed " they were pure but you knew better , I'm sure we can all deal with that
Perhaps a template for sales is needed & available with a section at the bottom for other information the seller may wish to add. If info has an honest error or possible error seller should be PM'ed, if it's an obvious scam then report & leave a response saying simply that as a warning to all. Many times I've seem items selling for more than the dealers sites sell the same items for, however some people would prefer to deal in private & knowingly pay what they see as a reasonable premium & or convenience of FTF local pickup etc. Pointing out X Y or Z dealer has that item selling slightly cheaper on the sellers sales thread will only get noses out of joint. Sellers as well as buyers have their own opinion of what is a reasonable price to them & they have every right to list or buy at said prices. Everyone is free to sell or not sell to buy or not buy a particular item or items no one is forced to do anything they do not choose to do themselves. Having said that some people just can't seem to mind their own business or grasp the concept of mutual respect.
Okay let's look at it the other way. We halt all comments on threads. Some dodgy SOB starts selling on the forum. All you can do is report. New buyer comes and buys it, get's ripped off and never comes back. Alternatively, newbie posts another thread completely asking 'is this a good deal?' and you piss off the sellers. There's no winning in this situation, either the buyers or sellers around here are going to get pissed off. But at LEAST with Ebay there's not only a feedback system in effect, but also an opportunity for COMMENTS to be left after the fact of the buyer gets screwed over. The exact sort of feedback people here want gagged. Are we looking to become another Ebay with this suggestion? No, we're probably going to get a whole lot worse if you go down this path. I'm yet to see a legit and reasonable sales thread on SS get shat on and result in a lock. I'll leave it at that.
Funny that you hear all these anecdotal stories of people willing to pay higher here than trader prices simply because they want their privacy, yet personally I have not found that to be the case as I have previously had trouble shifting some bullion when I offered it cheaper than all dealers in the first place, and was forced to reduce it further in order to get any bites (which seems to be the norm here). So I ask where are all these privacy concerned individuals when you need them
I haven't sold anything on here only bought, I do my own research, i make up my own mind & if i Turtle up i except the end results & don't go looking for someone to blame for not alerting me. If as i suggested report the item & POST that its been reported on the thread & still some one decides they want to buy it before its checked out its their fault, i think a few of the white knights need to stop saving some people from themselves rather than others. I've read time & time again on here over the years that some people prefer to deal in private even at slightly higher premiums, the fact that you needed to drop your pricing could be effected by many issues, spare cash, AUD up or down Silver / gold prices up or down, G to S ratio change, news in the market place regarding possible price actions etc etc etc. Just because you believe an item is at a good price does no make it so too everyone else, the market dictates the price here as everywhere else that has free trade.
I agree Maggie. If you like I will visit your thread and make a negative comment about the negative comment you received
No thank you EM, I have seen it happening so much lately, I am beginning to wonder if there is another agenda behind some of the remarks I have seen. It makes it hard for new members to know any different when older members do it. Just poor form.
Agreed Maggie. I thought we were all over this like last year - if you have an issue with the price take it up with the OP in PM. Besides... nobody's forcing anybody to do business. DYOD! Edit: Just saw that post made on your thread Maggie.. inappropriate is an understatement.
I really do not like stirring up trouble of any kind. But please look after what you have here, it is so unique to have a forum that is so respected in many parts of the world as well as in our own country. We need to remain respectful of one and other and help each other when it is needed.
" FFS " PEOPLE stop commenting on other peoples sales threads with the " Good price " & free bump If your NOT buying it , leave it alone My rant for the day
I am less concerned with the "good price free bump" as I am with the "oh you can get it cheaper elsewhere" or "high price" comments
Same thing in my eyes , OK maybe not Just a couple of "people in particular " recently been doing it lately And if you can get it cheaper GO get it
