The Palau 1999 coin is basically a copy of a Prussian 5 mark coin from 100 years earlier. With the portrait of Wilhelm II on the other side.
In 1899 Germany bought a bunch of Islands, including Palau, from Spain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German–Spanish_Treaty_(1899) Today a basketball team costs 30 times as much! That explains why there is Spanish coin in that set. More coins from the set here: http://worldcoingallery.com/countries/Palau.php They are at the bottom, starting with km16. Click on the KM number for pics.
Some buys I made at the recent ANDA show in Brisbane. A couple of US half dollars. And a couple of "Conder" tokens. Great Britain 1795 1/2d Buckinghamshire Chesham Token Great Britain 1793 Halfpenny Staffordshire Leek Conder Token
Nice ZAR piece. I like buying them up when I see them, they have ridiculously tiny mintages and it doesn't make sense that they are as cheap as they are.
Glad to see you've identified those coins correctly yourself and haven't taken any notice of what's written on the third world slabs they are in.
Special Proof i believe.. they really are proof-like (hehe) RE: Slabs.. yes i try very hard not to buy coins held captive in large plastic prisons.. indicative of want for these two.
SP usually stands for specimen when used in the grading context. In the context of those two NZ coins the SP stands for the complete lack of understanding that NNC has of NZ coins. Those 1965 coins are proof-like as correctly pointed out by 1for1.
