The tusks probably could've / should've been larger? But otherwise pretty cool.

However, lost me on the fossil side.. :(

Nah, it's cool. Just they they goofed up on the fossil side.. Too cheesy, IMO. Not to mention that they probably should have used the Chinese character, instead of English.

Certainly not buying only half a medal. Passing, too.

As for skull-related pieces, I actually have very few. Don't particularly care for them, but will make exceptions in selective cases.

Before you go and spend 200.00+ on eBay for this medal, just reach out to lucky at [email protected] and he can get you one for cheap.

I saw this a couple weeks ago on TaoBao. I like it but have no intention to buy as I have already put too many medals on my credit card and the credit card bill is due any day now....ouch! :)

I need to ask a question which might not related to here.

Is that barsensult video and photo make some of us over purchase or dry up our wallet ?

I bought many this month and use up my salary.

Barsenault and mmissinglink are the main responsible that I cannot come from red numbers. :p

I had quite a strong intention to not buy much more this year but then this thread appeared and voila! I'm back in the game. :)

This is an international problem. Too many good coins and medals in the market. Price of bullion keeps on falling. Stock market overheating. Where else to put your money? What else to spend on? Food? Booze? No! MCC? Oh Yeah!

Now that I learn this at least I know I am not the only one who is addicted to beautiful Chinese medals so much that my credit card is screaming at me "Slow down, slow down!". :D

Good points. Just think if the prices on the Chinese medals was higher then we wouldn't be buying so much....but because the MCC market is sleeping right now, we get better prices....especially on silver. So, in some way we are lucky that the MCC market is quiet right now because when it becomes hot again, the prices we see today will be the dreams and wishful thinking of the buyers tomorrow.

And even if the MCC market never gets hot again (which I think it will get mad popular some time down the road) if we are buying medals that we really appreciate and which are high quality designs, then at least we have spent our money on little treasures we can enjoy, talk about, and share with others. I can't do that with my ASE's, blobs of silver, or most of the other things I've purchased over the past 2 1/2 years. The only thing I can do with them is put them in a SDB like as if that was their jail and they are the prisoners of the spot price of silver....which appears to have no great future for years to come.

So, while I'll have to cut back the next couple of months on other expenses, the sacrifice is so worth it in the long run! :)

    Hahaha. Yeah, collecting is addiction.
Yesterday I bought too big pizza in the store. I went to bed totally full. Well I was still too full of food in the morning. Better to buy less (unhealthy) food and rather spend it on medals. :p

I think this will be the beginning of the "vision" all "doomsday scenario" stackers are talking about.:)
We will have plenty of met(d)al(s), guns, gasoline, nuts and berries. I need to think how to come to USA, considering all the limited resources. :)

    Holy WOW!

Can these things even fit in a slab??

I might have to change my mind on this one.

    Smaller 50mm version in brass..

    Woooow. Are you serious. :)

Actually the medal is quite nice, but there are so many nicer.
Besides the writing I don't have major complaints (besides my wallet :) ).

I believe the photo I posted is a wee bit deceptive, in that the medal doesn't appear to be exactly horizontal, causing the illusion of the relief to be popping that much more.

    But, still!

The fossil side has been growing on me, especially when seeing more of the original photos.

Still don't care for the English, either, but one needs to look at the overall piece, and not just focus on only negative (or positive) aspects.

Would love to see it in silver.

Anyway, per NGC, the "kilo" slab can accommodate up to 15mm thickness. Can we get Lucky to measure for us? :D

Guessing it would make sense, too, why they went with 50mm diameter instead of 45mm for the smaller version -- as I believe 50 bumps it up to the larger (fatter) slabs than the standard fatties. Assuming these can be slabbed, that is.

Dragon sold 10 of the 50mm on eBay in less than 8 hours.
