After a trip to the shop yesterday to top up the bar supplies nuggets signature came to mind 14 bottles of alcohol for $28 AUD. It really hit home how much aussies are getting ripped off by tariffs & taxes

    +1

Ridiculous sin taxes from our nanny state. Next they'll be selling overpriced licences to allow a restricted number of venues to sell the overtaxed liquor and then ban people buying too much. Heaven forbid that someone should get drunk in a pub :O

They should be making it easier for us to sedate ourselves, not harder!

Welcome to the digital TV age with 40 channels of mind-numbing enslavement beamed directly to your lounge room. If it's not already happening, soon we'll have Bert Newton 20-to-1 sedation marathons.

Are they legit bottles of liquor or counterfeits?

I've seen a lot of cheap alcohol in Asia and most of it is industrial methanol that some dodgy bastard has repacked into brand name bottles.

And next they'll start censoring old TV footage of - say - Peter Brock at Bathurst, whose Holdens of the 1970s and 80s appear to have been sponsored by the "Electronically-Obscured Word" company.

Legit .A lot of the liquer is local stuff & the brand name is all good. I only buy from the main mall where the westerners all buy from because they know the difference. Theres a bit of the rocket fuel around if you buy from the small stores

A lot of it is made under licence by the local manufacturer. I cant tell the difference when i have a few shots.

Yeah, it can actually make you go blind. Thankfully I've only ever had that happen to me once, so now I only ever buy booze at the airport (and even then I choose "safe" airports).

The major alcohol companies like Diagio actually send out spies to run chemical tests on their products being sold in bars and liquor stores. They find millions of liters of counterfeit booze with all sorts of shit in it.

My neighbour does it here in Oz without the repackaged brand name bottles. He's still a dodgy bastard though.

^^ Hopefully you mean "ethanol" LL. The M makes it quite dangerous.

He's a dodgy bastard so maybe for him there is no difference between a little "m" or not.

Actually it'd be ethanol I'd say. Then again, for the purpose of the background lurking cyber spies, I often dream a lot about my various neighbours (both male and female) and their activities so I'm likely just full of Bullshit.

    All in your mind
Water, 6 kg of Sugar, Yeast, two hours in the still and you end up with about three litres of >90% Alkyhole mix with three litres of pure water for a 45% alc content and 5 buck's on an essence of your choice for an average of $7-8 a litre.
