Would it really be a bad thing though?

Asian culture strongly favours saving, production, manufacturing, gold and silver money.

I'll take that over the western debt based ideal & war for profit paradigm any day thanks.

I don't particularly care one way or the other as long as it's voluntary. It's more that (from memory) most/all of the major towns in Eastern Siberia are near the China-Russia border (ignoring the Western part which borders Mongolia) and these have historically had a large Chinese migrant component. Combine this with your other points that the region has increasingly had more money for funding of the development of the resources from China plus a declining European population it seems more a matter of time rather than a question of 'if'.

    I think so too.

It's the transitional period that causes the most angst and pain for the population.

We all know the solution to this. The majority is only a problem when they have a government that they can use against others. If it is Australia's fate to be "taken over" by the Chinese through immigration then so be it. Won't be the first time the ethnic majority has switched in this country. But I think it's a bit hyperbolic to be honest. And anyway, people are becoming more civilized these days and I'm pretty sure I have as many ethnic friends as I do white friends. There are a lot of white people in this country that I think we could do without. Skin colour, schmin colour.

I love the melting pot. I think it brings dynamism. I remember living in the pre-dominantly white north england as a child. It's boring. All you've got is white people with pretty much identical experiences whingeing about blacks or "pakis" taking over the country.

Kind of like the US is just interested in extracting oil from Iraq? How's that going for them? Production up or down since the invasion?

There's more to mining than just coming in and grabbing the loot. That was the old pre-industrial ways when nobody had much of anything and you had the quick smash-and-grab. It's a different world now and the motivations for war have changed.

They are just going to enslave all those specialists involved with mining? Or bring down their own and automatically throw thousands of Aussies out of work. I mean, seriously guy.

Governments only work in advanced economies when people believe they are legitimate. There isn't enough force for ANY government to control all their citizens. It only works when most people believe the government to be legitimate so that the few dissenters can be dealt with by force. If 20 million people believed the government to be illegitimate, what the hell is the government going to do?

Just because I happen to have the data at hand and was recently looking at it. (From IEA WEO 2012)

Iraq production is recovering strongly and they're now the 3rd largest oil exporter. Still massively lagging their potential production based on their huge resources. More than 70% of Iraq's oil production comes from fields that are being operated by international oil companies under technical service contracts. Refinery output is also still lagging nameplate capacity. A lack of gas processing capacity means that half is simply flared.

Well in the case of Iraq, the government will have to ask the US/UK first and the Iraqis will be ignored.

Not going to happen. Russia will not simply allow the Chinks to come and take over half the country. Whereas we unfortunately lack nationalism, the Russians do not. Neither will the Chinese leadership even attempt anything as stupid as that. China and Russia are regional allies. And if all else fails, last i read 1/3 or Russia's nuclear arsenal is aimed at China.

Don't know where you guys are basing these far out ideas on.

I totally disagree. Come to sydney and see the wonders of "multiculturalism" specifically Bankstown, Lakemba and many more.

Whereas some groups may be an asset to our community some are not. many would also argue that the UK, France and many other countries that allowed mass immigration are much worse off for it today. Riots, higher crime rates, people no longer being able to walk the streets at night, no-go ghetto areas, increased competition for jobs, more people living off the public purse and being a drain on others.

2 academics recently published a report that confirms the high levels of immigration are causing much higher rates of youth unemployment.

Immigration has to be slowed down drastically otherwise we will all suffer a much reduced standard of living.

In the case of Australia our guvmint has made it easy for the Chinese - or any other potential invader - by disarming the entire population for them - at least the part of the population that counts.

So no, i dont believe the Australian population would be any threat to the current regime, or any foreign one for that matter, as they could be squashed like bugs whether they found their rulers to be legitimate or not

Lighten up, its no worse than pom or yank. Has political correctness and the nanny state gotten to you (despite or in spite of your signature) or are you under 35 and know no better?

No, I don't think " our coercive gubmint system is so superior'' I think Australians have become so inferior in their determination that change by evolution or revolution has become impossible.
Who's cached weapons ? Who's willing to do more than flap and winge on a PM forum? Where is the silent army, ready to rise up and bring change? Who's going to refuse to roll over and take it? Talk is cheap! Who is the Peter Lalor of today? I'll give you a hint, (it's not you or anyone else on this forum).

edited to add And that's not so funny.

To be honest guys, unless you are of aboriginal descent, it's kind of hypocritical to take issue with immigrants.

There's a difference between a slang term like aussie, pom and yank and an ethnic slur term like chink. Cultural norms exist with or without a nanny state (and yes they change - maybe you are a trend setter). The major difference is that under a Nanny State you will be taken to court under anti-freedom of speech regulations like Section 18C or the various mooted anti-discrimination laws in the workplace rather than simply asked to tone down unnecessary slurs on a public internet forum.

While I'm responding, w.r.t. the Russian nuclear missiles etc, the point was that the Chinese Government won't start a war because it won't need to.

Oh, and nationalism is a bad thing rather than something to be praised.

Violent revolution is completely unnecessary and totally pointless. You just replace one gang with another and have a ton of pointless deaths and meaningless destruction.

An intellectual revolution is what's required. It's the only way you bring about lasting change.

It's what I've tried to do here on SS over the years, but you will always face opposition, especially if you question the status quo.

I am trying to get SS back to the fundamentals on it's purpose - to educate and promote critical thinking.

People like Chris Duane (Sons of Liberty Academy) & Gerald Celente are also in the same business of getting people to think for themselves and abandon the current path of destruction people are on.

Other famous individuals from the past also thought is way too.

Ghandi : "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

Albert Einstein : "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it."

I agree, which is why I am still here and trying to get across a simple message in thinking for yourself.

The warnings, proof and answers to our daily problems are already spelled out in history by experienced and wise individuals if we can put down the ipod for a few moments and listen/read.
