Just found this...the situation in Adelaide is getting very ugly. http://www.carsguide.com.au/news-an...future_at_risk_as_workers_say_no_to_wage_cuts
They're losing their jobs http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-07-...kers-at-struggling-holden-in-adelaide/4845108 They'll be at the head of the queue for any jobs going, those holding on will be left with the dregs. But the reason I said good on 'em is because you won't see management taking a pay cut. Everytime I hear of workers taking paycuts you hear about it from a manager that's still getting a bounus, still driving his $+100K Mercedes to work and flogging the company Credit Card despite it being his p!$$poor management that got the company into trouble in the first place.
Strange.... I never hear of workers taking pay cuts? However, I regularly see workers get their agreed annual pay rise, while staff and management are stuck in a pay freeze.
Reading between the lines... that may already be the case. According to the unions they are "Our workers".

One single Australian case sourced from a Socialist publication? :/ And the outcome? I stand by my observations.
I agree. I feel sorry for these workers. It's a tough situation to be in. By accepting a wage freeze for 4 years, with inflation at a very modest and real 5% pa, means that by 4 years time they are effectively working for 20% less pay. So in other words accept a 20% paycut or lose your job altogether. Not a great choice either way.
Yeah, Truth be told I didn't try very hard just grabbed the 1st things on a google search... I didn't even read them this kinda thing just makes me emotional on a Friday afternoon :/
Its a tough time for the country we've all lived through the house price bubble, electricity prices skyrocketing and now fuel...... Companies closing down or putting people off...that's why I started the 'recession' thread!
That's an interesting point but it may be completely off the mark. If the fat needs to be trimmed at the top as opposed the bottom then it's a valid comment - if the workers on the floor are the source of waste then your comment is misguided. A cost analysis is the only way to determine where savings should be made, as opposed to following some philosphical socialist theory.
