Hi SS I just want to share my new YT video. Enjoy!
Ok somebody correct me if I am wrong but the Mint that is releasing this series is really screwing it up. They have an awesome design and series here but what are they doing. First they have released 3 coins Elephant, Rhino & Lions. All 3 are 2012 yet the lions wasn't released until 2013. Why are there 3 releases in 1 year? Are there going to be 3 coins in 2013? Second the series started with Gabon and now the last 2 were from Congo. Why would they repeat the same country? Wouldn't it make sense to do a 3rd country for the 3rd coin since these are different African ounce series. Also i just noticed that they just released a 2013 Tokelau Crocodile Silver Ounce which is the exact same design from this series. It is not part of the African ounce series though. So they just ripped off their own design. Really disappointed in how the Mint is doing business.
Even the same mintage of 2,000 coins and same antique finish. It is literally the exact same series except it's not the same series. What a joke.
The Mint produces 4 coins each year. I think that the next coin of this series will follow very soon. I keep you updated. The crocodile is another series. The Pacific Series. The elephant, the rhino and the lions are the African Series.
What a joke! Four coins in a year, messing up with countries, releasing a very similar coin (Crocodile) and claim it to be another series. So we should expect another 3 coins in same year after the crocodile? This way the coins price will never get high like other series no need to mention which, too many coins, too many mistakes. I think price will drop except from the pumped prices that a few german sellers are proposing after probably agreed with each other. This mint really has to learn from CIT how to do business and handle a good coin when market response is good. For me, after this crocodile, this series can R.I.P. Alex.
Yeah really disappointing how incompetent these Mints are run. How about 1 coin a year and a different country each year. Wow was that so hard. At least be consistent. If you want two Congo coins you should have released two Gabon coins also. How does it make sense to release coins that say 2012 if we are in 2013. Is that really too much to ask to be consistent?
it was obvious that they make the coins in order to make money on collectors when they made second coin in 2012 after elephant ... not long until they start making one coin every month ))
Yeah but what they fail to realize is it is more important to create lasting repeat customers instead of screw everyone over and make a quick buck now at the expense of long term sustainability. The way they are handling this series which is an awesome series is driving collectors away.
I think it's not a problem to find new buyers for 2000 minted every time ... at the beginning elephant was selling at 75 euros ... flood the market with 2000 more coins now and bring the price back to 75 euros and everyone will be happy ... bring the price down to 40 euros and I'll add the series to collection, even if they mint one new coin every month though I agree that it would be fair to customers, but for business volumes are more important
Too much too fast ruins a series every time. It takes time for the market to absorb coins and for prices and demand to increase. When coins flood the market is just gets over saturated.
You are right. 2 weeks ago when polish market was flooded with these coins I was able to buy 2 for myself for about 270 PLN (85 USD) each. Now, the price is about 340 PLM
Flop Coins, German Forums are overloaded with WTS posts of those, prices are falling every week. There are no Collectors for those funny pieces, quick buy and earn few bucks on them by selling them quickly, those who stay sitting on those coins when Music stops to play are looser in that story. A little group of speculators tried to make a instant hype and didn't make it.
I totally agree. In the beginning I saw a hype created ad-hoc by some german sellers (I would say cooperating among them for sure) and this series seemed hard to find, quick increasing value, bla bla bla And the greedy of them rushed to push on the market more coins with nonsense logic (country messing, indentical crocodile coin but claimed to be another series etc.) to squeeze more and more collector's money. I was talking also to some dealer, and the mint made these coins also "hard to get" for them, even at retail price. So I think their mistake was to be too greedy not to spread these coins among most dealers around the world, and to mint so many coins in a short term. As soon as more people will start to flip these coins, price will fall even more. Maybe I will buy soon at $45.00 just because this is their real value. Alex.
