I am not looking for something that spectacular as Detroit. Something MUCH more modest would be quite suitable for my purpose.

But it seems that to find something like that I will have to come over and to look for it in person. By visiting small dying towns and asking who wants to sell some property.

I also hear Maralinga in South Australia has some pretty cheap land too.

Your stack should be easy to find at night - it'll positively glow...

What kind of firearm ownership is legal in Australia?

What is possible for a foreigner?

I have heard that the socialists has collected some of it.

    Good for them!

Firearm ownership for a foreigner? Forget it!!! The govt disarmed the majority of the population after the Port Arthur massacre. Now it quite a long drawn out process for a citizen to legally own a firearm and the type is seriously restricted.

You're new here, so you're forgiven for not knowing that threads on firearms are banned. No further posts on the topic please.

    Sorry and thank you.

    It was a practical question.

    I admire you reaction speed!

I have just refreshed my knowledge of the Rules. I failed to find any mentioning of "firearm" or "gun".
How am I supposed to know what is banned if it is not even mentioned in the Rules?

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks.

    Sparrow,

I know you want to be a loner in this adventure of yours, however, unfortunately thats just not possible.

Are you an Australian citizen? I assume not.

In which case, as a foreign national buying land or property in Australia you are subject to FIRB (foreign Investment Review Board) standards.

One of which means that you can only buy vacant land if you commence building a sitgnificant dwelling within 24 months.

Although my previous suggestion was slightly sarcastic, you really need to speak to the experts if you plan on buying real estate as a foreigner.

    http://www.firb.gov.au/content/real_estate/residential/for_development.asp

Also, as a foreign national you will need to apply for approval via a solicitor.

I am a real estate agent specialising in selling multi million dollar lifestyle property (yes, even in "this" market) to both Australians and foreigners.

If you plan to buy land here you will also need to seriously consider building on it.

Given you are in to Silver only and you plan to transport your stack by car and bury it manually I assume you have under 200kg of silver? (otherwise youd need good suspension in the rental car you pick up at the Airport)

Eitherway...your costs involved with "storage" by building a house could possibly outweigh the value of your silver?

Do your research a little better than asking forum members.

You will need tospeak to experts in real estate. I dont intend to sell you anything so thats why I am taking the piss but you need to understand that your lone-ranger approach wont work.

I am a loner only regarding things which are conducive to it. But I value a professional expertize whenever it could help.

Thank you very much. This is a great advice.

Actually it makes the options much fewer and making a choice quite simpler. :)

    Thanks again.

It's not explicitly in the forum rules... as I said, you're new here. Might be time to update the rules though with an explicit mention.

I would be very grateful for a short list of the banned topics to make my compliance more efficient.

    Thank you.

    Spoken like the sheeple :p

If I told you it would be breaking my own guidelines on discouraging discussion ;)

In all honesty - I'd rather you just explored the forum a little and saw what is, or what isn't, being discussed. There's a very healthy forum culture here without some of the bigotry and aggression present on other internet forums - have a look around.

I'm sure the list is bigger than that but with all the talk about silver, I lost track. :)
