Would appreciate some information and valuation on these 1984 Panda medallions in OMP
Never seen these Panda medallions before. Minted from some gold coloured base metal. Too light to be silver.

It's brass weighing 12.7 grams (the 1984 panda).

I think around $300 worth, can't find much data on it as it's pretty rare.

30k actual mintage, probably much less as most have been defaced/melted etc

Not sure what the bottom set is worth or what it is.

I am actually selling it on consignment for a friend.
Might be worth $300 but how much do you think I can get if I sold it on this forum?
I have two medallions in OMP

Not sure, maybe $100-200. Really depends on who's buying.

Here's an auction to a graded one (shit grade though): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1984-China-5Y-Panda-Brass-NGC-PF-64-Ultra-Cameo-/290607015400

The panda is actually 1 Yuan denomination too, not 5 as stated in listing.

Thanks, the pic I took on the iphone is pretty crappy.
Looks much nicer than the one sold on ebay.
I will contact my friend and get him to set a price now that I have a reference.
Didn't even realised it was a coin; thought it was a medallion.
    Cheers

Okies AuroraEtLuna, how does $20 sound??? :)

Heheh... auction the bear today! :)

It deserves to be in hands that will appreciate it! :)

It's nothing to the owner... not even a precious metal... just like a penny to be thrown aside... throw it this way :)

$100 for a piece of brass! You gotta be joking... I'll go $100 out of pity for the poor lonely bear... :)

Sell it to me at $100... *please*

How many American Silver Eagles do you want for it? Because when the SHTF, this piece of brass may be worth less.

My gut feeling when I saw those coins was to offer a 2011 Panda as a swap.
I thought it was a medallion because I couldn't see a denomination so changed my mind. Bugger!
I honestly don't know what it's worth but its in my best interest to get him top dollar as I get to keep 10% in consignment fees :)
He also has some really old Chinese coins with square holes that I might try to flog here if there is any interest
    Cheers

I value your 3 Pandas at $126 wholesale!
So if I don't get a bid of more than $126 by 8pm tomorrow, I will take you up on that offer.
