^^ Thanks Julie. I read that article yesterday and wondered the same thing myself. Why is it now illegal to do what this guy is doing?

He is wrong about one thing though - he might lose the generation capacity when he moves but he has certainly increased the value of his house to compensate.

Anyway I do love what he has done with the place!

Another huge kick in the guts for renters who had to subsidise the installation of solar panels on their neighbours house then have to pay extra for the electricity those subsidised panels generate as well as having to pony up for the network upgrade.

And yes, if I were a mortgage holder / home owner I'd have been all over this scam that you'd be looking at a picture of my house on Today Tonight. Call me a hypocrite if you must but meh. What's a person to do when the system is so farcical?

5 KW is nothing , the average power point only goes up to 2.4KW so you are getting two power points worth of power.Maybe there is a technical issue with people pushing 30 KW of power back into the grid?

There is a technical issue. The system is designed for power to flow one way. Capacity has already been reached in area's and those seeking to put a system up may be dissapointed. But then again they can whine and get their neighbours to upgrade the network so they can pay more for their electricity

Those over hanging panels actually make it an illegal installation and a nice breeze would have 15kg panel flying through the air :|

The pic at least gives us an idea of what it could look like when the ponzi financial system collapses like a house of cards .....
