Ok, by this definition I am certainly not a cryptoshill. I was fortunate to be holding btc well before the masses and lucky enough to keep on holding it all the way to a very healthy profit, I no longer hold BTC. In saying this cryptos are not dead, not by a long shot. Some of the new alt coins are just copies of btc and have no use, however, some coins, for example NMC can be used to set up deregulated domains, DNS services could be the future for strict countries like china, North Korea etc etc. Some of these coins are quite young and yet to receive media attention or even be utilised for their intended purpose. They've not even begun to go up so I doubt they are about to go vertically down haha
Ah yes this is a very valid point. Silver may reach some outstanding lows but depending on our exchange rate the savings may not be as great as I expected. Hmmm so many factors at play this year, I do think our dollar will go down, I certainly can't see it going back to parity any time soon. At least our current holdings will retain value and may even gain value depending on aud performance.
I just looked at the chart at the top of the page up 66 cents. Think you all missed the boat , Its going up at least till tomorrow. LOL!!!!!
Stop talking about peak oil as a doomsday scenario, the market always reacts in a way that forces a solution. When supply falls the price will increase and this will signal to consumers to conserve oil use, it will also encourage eople to invest in finding more oil, developing technology to extract oil from more difficult sources and will encourage alternatives to oil to enter the market. Why didnt the streets of london acheive the predicted 1ft of horse shit from horse and carriage users? Because the car was invented.
I hope so too, it's not like that I'm against bitcoin etc, but its price went up at a crazy speed, other prices didnt, so this is profit, ready to be taken, upon the first doubt/demand drop. It happened in the past and there is no reason for no repeat. It has all the properties of a mania/bubble. I see on auction sites offers popping up for various types cryptocurrencies, with as arguments the past and current big price uptrend. If there is one golden investment rule I came across, it's that when you see past big trends used as argument to buy, that it's near time to either get out, either to grab an umbrella and pray (abit like in Speedy Gonzales).
Listen for the shoe-shine boy, but don't listen *to* the shoe-shine boy. When he tells you to buy, it's time to sell.
I wasn't referring to peak oil as a catalyst for dooms day, I was more hinting at higher mining costs possibly the slowing down of production and a decline in supply, which could impact silver prices in a positive way. Of course technology will advance but in the interim perhaps we may enjoy some sweet gains, as these advances never happen over night.
Oh EM, since I originally wrote about NMC (2 days ago?) it has doubled in price and will continue to climb. It must be hard to be so closed minded. Cryptoshill hahahahahahaha
I swear when I first joined this forum everyone was so respectful to eachother. It was unlike any internet forum I'd ever been on. We should each endeavour to continue that respect.
Although I fully agree with the last point, back when you joined there were constant RE threads between auspm/reno/NR and the 'general discussion' section got so bad GP had to remove it so you might be looking to the past with slightly rose coloured glasses
Thank you Badlye - at last, someone who speaks my language. Spread the love I say and minimise the risks. I consider PMs as part of my long term portfolio plan but they are not the be all and end all. So thank you - your comments make perfect sense and match my thinking. ... and this is the reason I tend to read and not comment. At times I am mildly amused, however there have been some fairly nasty/puerile retorts. Fortunately, there is mostly interesting information, not just opinions - just need to remember the following quotes 'The value of [a college] education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think' - Einstein 'Opinions are like @holes - everyone has one' - Minchin
