No final mintage figures, the 2oz and 5oz can continue to be minted up until the release of the Year of the Snake in September. They are an uncapped mintage.

Thanks gp, now that I hear that I'm pretty sure I'd been made aware of that before. Bloody hopeless.

I thought any of the lunar series coins could continue to be minted throughout the lifetime of the series? Or is that just the 1 oz and 1/2 oz coins until their mintage is maxed and the larger ones can't be minted past their respective years?

All the minutia seep out of my brain

    S1 is locked in.

    S2:
1oz can be minted at any time during the Series until 300,000 max
1kg is unlimited mintage and can be minted any time during the Series
ALL OTHER SIZES are only for 1 year and are stopped when the next coin in the series is released

EDIT: Surely this info is stickied somewhere???

Probably is, but there's a whole lot of forum to read and not infinite time to do so. I've been reading the panda forum atm and this question was a quick multi task :)

    Thanks for the answer.

False bids. You can still get these for $23 in the states, though they are getting a little more rare.

Maybe the bidders thought it is 1oz, uncarefully watch and read of description. Happen to me twice, once fortunately I lost and secondly I win and regret (for CuN coin I thought it was silver :p - I just know CuN is cuppro nickels, in descreption just say very nice coin, now I more carefully rad and ask before bid!)

Where at the perth mint website can i find this information? I looked and cant find it. Sorry, i want to believe this is exactly how it works, but i just recently got burned by accepting at face value another factoid about perth mintages when it turned out to be completely inaccurate. I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

What do people think are the better buy?

    The 1/2, 2, 5 or 10oz dragons?

Here is the 2012 Silver Bullion brochure: http://www.perthmintbullion.com/bullion-brochure/silver-bullion-brochure-2012.pdf

    Mintages

No mintage limit applies to 1 kilo, 10oz, 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz coins. Except for the 1 kilo release, production of these coins will close at the end of 2012 and The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. Production of 1 kilo coins will cease at the end of the series.

A maximum of 500 10 kilo coins will be produced on a mint-to-order basis. However, production will close at the end of 2012, when the coin's actual mintage will be declared.

The Perth Mint will produce up to 300,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first.

EDIT: For completeness, here is the 2012 Gold Bullion brochure: http://www.perthmintbullion.com/bullion-brochure/gold-bullion-brochure-2012.pdf
