Paid 940 euro each. Price now is 590. I'd have had 40 instead of 25 if I had bought today instead of at spot $32 in 2011. How impressive is that lol? I bought 23 in 2011, and 3 more, at lower prices (spot $27). Since then none, simply because they weren't (and still aren't) available in my region anymore. I bought about 250 1 ouncers libertads when spot was $22 for the first time. LOOONG way to average down. Doing my best! Won't quit!
@ Pirocco, I've never had as much envy for owning a stack ofsilver coins than when you show off that stack of kilo Libertad's...wow! .
The Libertad design is impressive. Bigger coin radius, bullion yet comes with a finish, design a coin-spanning statue symbol of freedom, as a winged angel, on a background with mountains, alike it's high in the sky, detailed and narrow/fine. Whoever made that design, and decided the dimensions, he/they did one of the best designs jobs ever done on this kind of products. It's a coin, with an 'impact' that isnt second by any other now and past. I have a few 1 ouncer version of the old design of the Libertad (1990), and these are 'much less' than the new design. Still okay, comparable to ASE/Maples/etc, but far off the new one. And the second is probably also by Casa Moneda de Mexico, that Aztec calendar. But its hefty price tag made it no option for me (although I paid 940 euro in 2011 for libertad kilos so I could maybe buy a few Aztecs today at that price) The Libertad kilocoin is, especially at it common bullion-alike price, a LOT. I've read somewhere that they will start providing tubes for their 1 ouncers. The lack of those was the only minus there was to find, even after a hard search for minuses. On the other hand, the silverish packaging gave the coins a special look. Abit like in the old days, where silver coins passed the scene every day, directly visible and metallic, unlike those neo plastic / gimmick tubes. So far todays Hail and Praise of the Libertad
I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Act 22:33 Only envy a man's Silver if you are prepared to envy his Sorrows. -bw
I have some secured storage place available, not that easy but big enough. Those libertads on the pic are 25 kilo. That's even less than a single standard industrial/investment bar of 1000 ounces. It looks more than it is. I can, and also do, store many times that, and I think alot here can say the same.
Crappy cell phone pics, but just yesterday picked this up at a LCS...I am a sucker for anything with the Aztec calendar on it On the rim is Plata 999 Can't find much on it online, anybody seen one ?
Very, very nice Luker...that's the key date in the PL kilo Libertad series! I love the contrast of the proof-like shiny devices (portrait) and legends raised against the matte fields...spectacular! .
What's the reason for the "0" quotes for the year 2012 proof mintage of 0? Also, I have read about the 1/10 ounce earlier, but wasn't aware of the 1/20 until now. Any reason for having such a small denomination? The demand shrinks alot with the denomination but still, hard to understand buyers motivation, and they probably cost alot more per silver weight too. For gold it's 'normal' due to the 60 times higher price, but for silver? They should by the way make a better table than this, and those cumulative figures registered till 1992, well lol. So someone started with zeroes in 1982 then each year they added the mintages that a new total, thereby leaving no individual year data. Bright guy(s), back then. Luckily he or they retired in 1992. Just imagine that it had been a 20 years old, doing it upto present day.
OK. First, see my avatar. My Spanish is pathetic but this is a private medal - years of service isn't it? Some company probably gave them out and presumably didn't have enough worthy recipients so they were sold off. This is a real coin
saw this today http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2005-Mex...4534691?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item4ad8c786a3 i'm also thinking of bidding on this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Azt...0008005?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item33939f1345 but does anyone know what the import charges of $140 mean? is that on top of the price of the item and delivery? applicable to delivery in australia?
