You guys keep arguing about Putin V Obama

I spoke to a couple of older Ukraine gents on Monday
    And
They both agreed that Putin only want the Crimea back
The two older gents agreed & both said
That somebody on behalf of the Ukraine needs to say that they can have the Crimea back

    AND

    Both the Ruski's & the Ukraine army's
Don't have the bullets for a full on war ;)

I think Crimea will stay as a part of Ukraine ... Ruskies need one leg being inside Ukraine (maybe that's why guys from Ukraine wanted to get rid of this part of the country)

    So, let me get this straight here;
    1) Putin moves troops into Crimea, and the border of Ukraine.
    2) Markets in the west tumble, as does the Russian Ruble.
    3) Pressure is brought to bear on Crimea and Ukraine with
Russia's show of force. Russia shows the west just how quickly
it can move. Reenforces what Russia sees as her immediate
    sphere of interest.
    4) Russia "Backs Down" from further involvement, but retains
    the right for further action.
    5) Russian fleet shows its power world wide. Showing that it is
willing to use force, or the threat thereof, to keep its warm water port
    theirs.
    6) John Kerry announces that Russia blinked, and that the markets, not
    arms, beat Russia back.
    7) Russian forces are still there, Putin has retained the right go back in
at any time, Russia showed great resolve here, the United States, none.
    8) Far more articals were written on the Oscar's than on the happenings
    in Russia, Crimea, and Ukraine.
    9) We Won???????

What is the current Russian population in Crimea? In 2001 it was about 58%. Does the current Ukraine leadership have any desire to fully let go of the Crimea and will the next elected Ukraine gov't be willing to let it totally go if the current gov't has no desire to?

As an ambivalent observer outside of either the USA or Russia, and therefore potentially neutral in opine, this is a reasonably accurate summation of the situation.

Population of Crimea Is about 300,000 Tatar. 300,000 Ukrainians, and 1,500,000 Russians.

There are also several minorities, not sure on their totals.

Yes I have lived in Russia, I had a Russian girlfriend for a couple of years, she was a Banker of all things... I know not popular here

The Russians also listen in on almost all communications as well. They also can go into anyone's home at any time, arrest them and take them away never to be seen again.

I would much prefer to live in my home country or the USA than Russia, besides it's too bloody cold.

Every country has it's issues, some worse than others.

the russian foreign minister snubbed a meeting with his euro friends about Ukraine, and according to the interview putin gave (available on rt about an hour long) he says they still reserve the right to go in if ethic russians in east and south are persecuted and Yanukovich asks him to defend those people. So the reason its calm in east and south is because of that

    Well funny thing is
The " spare dancer " that they had was my size & shape
    And now back OT

I went to school with a mate
His dad was the first person to hop on a plane to try to start a business over there
He didn't make it out of the airport , he was kidnapped & held for ransom for over 12 months
He had $500k on him & they wanted another $1mil , it took him 12 months to convince them that was all the $ he had
Once they realised he had nothing left . he was kicked out the door & had to find his own way home :|
