Bullion Dealers - ranked on Gold spot premium

I did some analysis of published prices on a number of dealers
- the price selected was of the cheapest 1oz Gold (anything) sold by each dealer - this means that it is usually a cast bar, but can be generic, brands, new, buybacks etc
- spot price is always against kitco.com at the time of comparison - but as price is a bit volatile (cough) lately it means that website price might be be using a few minutes old data, which could move few tenths of %

Reason I created it, is that Sydney has a lot of high premium dealers, and not many low, and I wanted to see what was on offer for the rest of the country.

I do have it in a spreadsheet, and if there is interest I will share more, as I also did silver 1kg comparison, and buyback for gold and silver

I use Findbullionprices.com here in the States.
It's a live price sheet with all the different sizes broken down and the cheapest prices.
I'm surprised you guys don't have a site like that.

I guess I have to make my own...

Well I did a thing...
Consider it a proof of concept - Products are hyperlinked, it is created semi automatically.
it mostly works, limited dealers.

Just casually dropping a bullion dealer product filter site that functions pretty damn good. Respect :p Also appreciate you acknowledging Grok had its part to play - AI is wild.

I'm super keen to see how this develops and will be promoting it to members on the myBullion platform.

Welcome to SS! :D

That is pretty much exactly what I was looking for and could not find :)

How does it work? How often is it updated? Who are you? Not as in your name but why would you create and host for free? ie being non-commercial means it is all costs and no return? or is the plan to later be commercial?

And some feedback
1. Once it loads it is very fast to search and filter, which is obviously good.
2. It does not seem to handle multi/combi bars - like 100x1g I think it has caculated that as 1g giving a crazy spot%
3. I like it - and if it keeps working and is reliable I think I would use it regularly when looking to buy from dealer.

Ok first a confession, the real inspiration is actually https://diskprices.com/?locale=au a site I use everytime I buy storage, and I thought would it not be cool if there was a site like that for Bullion? The issue was of course real time pricing of bullion, but when I saw your post, I realised all you really want to know is who is the cheapest, and you don't need to display actual prices for that.

I am just a middle aged IT guy, with my own itch to scratch. To be clear, I have no connection to any dealer (other than normal customer).

In terms of costs, the fixed costs are very low, the website is a static HTML page and the data - this is downloaded once when you visit and if you spend 10 minutes filtering and searching it is all done locally in your browser without any extra download (which is why it is very fast as you noticed).

So unless it becomes very successful with many thousands of daily visitors the costs will remain low enough for me to cover as a hobby.
I have no plans to monetise, but never? that is a long time. :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks MyBullion - yes, whilst I am in IT, I have no real world web skills, so AI really did write it, although it still took quite a while, but it was a learning experience.

I have some ideas that I want to implement
1. Obvious is to add more dealers
2. Fix some data issues in product identification and calculations (multibars, etc)
2. I would like to add when ID is required - visually and also be able to filter on it - some dealers require ID to just open an account, eg if looking for 1oz Silver I would like to be able see and exclude dealers that require ID to buy that.
3. Some styling, but function over form - it should work now on mobile and desktop.

Sorry if I came across as questioning your motives - like mybullion I am keen to see how this develops, as it is already impressive.

It really is a handy tool for both buyers and sellers. Regarding your points:

1. myBullion wants on it :D
2. Yeah some items like the Komsco Tiger and Phoenix combo are shown as spot +156%, when it should be +28%. Not a big deal really, people who click through to inspect further will see this is because its being sold as a pair. Same for other things like multibars etc.
3. That's a pain, my understanding is that dealers should only require ID for orders over $5000. Each to their own.
4. Keep it simple, prioritise speed and ease of use. It currently ticks both those boxes.

Keep on going, this has much potential.

Your site has a strict 'no scraping' terms of service - can you just reply that you agree that I can pull prices off your site.
I would start with just your not-P2P stuff. I only download the HTML and it doesn't follow any links (other than next page), so I would only read these:

Awesome. Consider this written consent to pull prices off the site.
Regarding peer to peer, that’s an interesting dilemma. Does Bullion Monster display dealer prices exclusively or eventually branch out to include private sellers also?
Both questions for you to decide later :)
