Stacker bar types

Interesting post about stackers and my question was answered before I asked ( do different brands still stack together)...yes it would appear.

So another question from a new stacker.

I've only been buying coins at this stage from dealers with the associated higher premiums.

Now looking to move over to 10 oz bars for the first time.

Ideally I'd like just stackers from the start and stick with those but how realistic is that for someone looking to build a base?

Is there much difference in the second hand market between a generic and a stackable 10 oz bar?

In the secondary market, you'll usually get a better deal than what you'll find with a dealer, wherein you're looking at up to $100 difference between your standard poured bars and stackers; the secondary market asking price is generally closer to $40 difference...

It's a difficult question to answer, it really just depends on you yourself - do you want something that fits together nicely and looks pretty (paying a premium for that), or do you just want a nice round number to have a collection of 10oz bars (eventually saving enough that you will have what basically amounts to a "free" bar)?
Again, it really all boils down to personal preference; whether you want something that's neat and tidy and looks respectable (stackers), or if you don't care how it looks as long as it's made of the right materials (and quite possibly could look even more impressive due to the haphazard arranging of generic poured bars).

I don't suppose that answered your question in the slightest, but what you stack and how you decide is something nobody else can tell you... :)

Thanks for the reply and your bang on. I'm still at the stage of regularly getting the silver out for a look but ultimately its in a safe out of sight stacked or not.

I'd rather get that extra bar and open up a whole new buyers market of random shapes etc.
 
buying 1 or 2 bars for the varieties of it, can be costly on postage
but never easy to collect them all... "got to catch them all" also gave up half way playing the game
end of the day, it just stacking silver

etc

just to put them on top of one another, perfect fit :)
 
I read the post but if a Scottsdale bar says manufactured by materiln, is it special or just helps to date ur.
