How to check a Pert Mint bar's authenticity?

Hi,

Suppose you want to buy a Pert Mint gold bar (Certicard) version from someone - how can you check its authenticity?

All you get is the bar from someone, so we're not talking about dealers.

While PAMP has this online scan thing, I don't believe Perth Mint has anything similar? Like checking the bar's numerical code?

Because all that's left is just:
- measuring the dimensions and weight (with the plastic Certicard together)
- checking the design and color
- possibly comparing the bar with another one
 
Yes, I know all these things, especially when comparing with another bar, taking it out of the certificate, checking the design, measuring the thickness etc.

But how can you tell authenticity when all you have is a bar in front of you?

Regardless whether buying or selling to someone... well, you could weight it with the certificate.

But there must be a more reliable method.
 
Magnet & Weight.

Try to avoid buying from Ebay , Gumtree, Craig list... Some Auction House.

Dealers that doesn't have PM scanner.
 
How about measuring the weight of a 10 gram Perth Mint bar (with plastic together).

Is it normal for this 10 gram bar to weigh 20 grams (with plastic Certicard/tamper-evident case together)?

Is there a guide (somewhere on the internet) that mentions how much they're supposed to weigh (with plastic case together)?

10 OZ Gold cast specification mentioned from ABC bullion site is 52.5 mm x 24 x 10 = 12600 mm3 =12.6 cc
Gold density is 19.32g/cc

So 12.6cc x 19.32g = 243.432 g. But it should be at least 311g.

It seems the specification for 10 OZ gold bar indicated in ABC website is incorrect? I am not sure. Can anyone comment on my calculation?

Perth Mint is different. 10OZ gold cast is 47 x 24 x 17 = 19176mm3 = 19.176 cc

19.176 x 19.32 = 370 g. more than 311 g. But given the hollow space in the logo and not be cut it to perfect rectanglar size. 370g probably acceptable.
