Who is saving to buy a big bar?

With all the price movement lately it has focused my attention on spot and getting volume whilst the price is right.

I have decided to save for one larger bar .I mean a really big sucker.

I hope Goldstackers still have them when I have my cash ready.

Anyone else planning on a big one soon?

I'm a poor guy. That's why I'm fooling around with silver - poor man's gold. But I've built up a satisfactory little assortment of US silver dimes, quarters, halves and silver dollars. I'm moving on to 10-ounce bars. Soon, I hope to swap some larger silver for some gold. I think gold is nice because it's large-denomination real money, while sliver is smaller-denomination daily commerce money.

Me too.Just stacking slowly. However the time i think is here to buy a big bugger when I can afford it.

I got my eye on a bar that GP has in his vault.

The biggest i will get is 100oz, still have some dragon coins i want to buy (i don't even have a kilo yet??). I like the old school loafs over the flatter bars

I'd rather have the gold too. However, now is the time to own silver.
If you are a swapper, I'd recommend waiting for the sub 40 s/g ratio.
At this stage of the game, most swappers are going for the silver.

Ainslie Bullion in brisbane sell 10 kg for about $9500 atm.

I like bars over coins I think 100Oz bars are good size then 10 oz followed by coins and maybe even some 1966 50c.. would love some coins but since i am used to buying bars i just look at the extra premium and think man i missing out on some ounces. lol

we are hoping for the best for silver and once your ready to cash it in...will the premiums be worth it? a few once here and there may go along away whilst the buyings good>!!

I recently traded in a couple of kg's+fiat to get a 5kg brick. I don't think I'll go bigger however (I nearly sprained my wrist carrying it home and again when I took it to my storage). Since then have moved down to large groups of small coins where the premium over 1kg's are minimal (like Silversun, I keep thinking of the missing oz's when I see people selling 1oz coins for +30%/oz but they are much more liquid).

You can walk nonchalantly down the street with a 1kg without anyone suspecting. Can't imagine it'd be very inconspicuous carrying a 15kg monster!

I bet the 5 kg bar is your favourite.

Kinda surprising that the 5kg size is not very popular given the popularity of kilo bars, and not much bigger than a 100oz bar but generally much lower premiums.

If you're going to stack $100k+ in silver, the 5kg size is a great choice.

& they look like a real stack of bars when theres a few. All the others are just miniatures 5kg is the real full size bar

so 5 kgs are better than a big 15 kg bar?
Its all personal choice . Your storage, goals how much you want to offload when the time comes in what increments etc.
Thanks.

Do you know the dimensions of a 5 vs 15 kg bar?

i have seen some 5kg bars that seem to be hard to shift. the 100oz is big as well, i have never held one though. i should think that kg's would be better if you were to want to get rid of the 100k. would be interested to know why you think 5kg is the way to go?

Sold a ~33kg bar easily enough via the forum a few month ago. Not everyone wants to stack $1k at a time.

$100k in silver is 20x 5kg bars right now - sure you could buy say six PAMP monster boxes of 15kg each, but for low premium - the 5kgs are generally secondary market sourced, selling for ~1-2% over spot, as opposed to kilos at 7-8% over spot. Means more ounces in the stack.
