When To Sell Gold/Silver? When To Buy Real Estate (Video Link)

thanks for the post, he made a good point about the massive amount of small investors that can buy silver this time around; it makes me feel like the POS can increase a great deal just from us little guys.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like we'll be making more of these greenscreen clips based on the comments from the last couple...great for getting charts across...

When I saw the title I thought 'great, that's exactly what I've been looking in to'. I understand this is possibly the first of many videos on the topic and it may only be designed to be an introduction, but I was pretty disappointed that it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. The reasons he gave for precious metals rising in value were vague and questionable. IF/WHEN the vast majority of people start losing money from other investments is when a lot of people will start looking to 'protect' their wealth with precious metals, not because "these days people have an investing mindset". And what's with the basket analogy???

After watching the video this morning before logging on to SS, I was interested to see if anyone would raise the topic here. It turns out I'm the only one who didn't enjoy it! I'd genuinely like to know what you guys found interesting about this video. In my opinion it doesn't deserve a rap at all.

I'm always keen to hear what Maloney has to say, so I'll be waiting for the next video - hopefully with some useful information.

When are you going to sell your silver LeadWrist?

Most probably when I can get the most real estate for my silver.

No one can tell you when to sell...they do not know how high the price will go up.

We are all essentially gamblers, however we are all making an informed (gamble) decision on the POS increasing.
That is why so many people will still buy real estate because no one has really seen the price drop dramatically..except overseas.

We can all speculate that the price will go to $100 / oz and all on SS will say they will sell 50%, but when the time comes, some will say "I will hold out for $150" and others will will bail out early. The large investors are attempting to create more interest in saying the POS is set to rise....this is good news as word of mouth and advertising is just
more proof that SS are on the right path.

I just hope it comes before my kids inherit my silver and enjoy spending my stack....

I'll just add; I do believe that Maloney's future video's on the topic will be helpful if this is your goal, but the peak of the gold/silver to real estate value here in Australia is likely to be different to when it occurs in the States so you will need to be familiar with the local market.

So you're basing the true value of your stack of silver not on $/oz but on a comparison with another asset, ie a ratio. And that will give you guidance as to when you reckon it's worthwhile selling. Just like maloney says you should.

We are looking to store and grow our wealth, all the time researching our next move. Some here use GSR, others GDR and still others compare it to real estate prices. What he says might not be revelational to those that have walked the road to Damascus and been converted, therefore possessing the vision, but it is the way many of us think. So, we like what he says. And he can say what I believe as often as he likes. It's always good to get confirmation of your long term stacking plans.

So what will you do?

That was my plan all along, I just *expected* to get some more useful information out of the video, hence my *disappointment*.

What will I do? I'm in the process of familiarising myself with the Aussie real estate market while using the US market (hopefully analysed in future "when to sell" videos by Maloney) to gauge the right time to 'swap' here.

Fair enough about the disappointment. Trying not to sound patronising but you're on track. When you find out, let me now. :) At the moment my plans are consumed with sorting out my super, which will include property at some point, maybe 5 or 10 or 15 years.

Start another thread to help you, asking forum members when they think the right time is to swap PM for property. What sort of indicators are they using? When does buying v renting become more advantageous? There are some members with very strong opinions about this topic and also some who are in the business of real estate. And quite a few who "owe-n" real estate. And please share how you are familiarising yourself with Aussie real estate.

Not everybody here is on the same level of awareness as you are.
Considering the ratios DOW/GOLD, SILVER/GOLD as well as their inverses and looking at GOLD/avg property and SILVER/avg property is perhaps new to some of the stackers out here...

I for one am familiar with this, but i still found it reinforcing to watch the video and reckon it strengthened my understanding of these concepts if nothing else.

Perhaps the coming videos in the series may have some stuff of interest to you

This is true, however the same principles apply and i think Hobo's website is a wonderful tool to use to estimate where the RE market will end up in relation to PMs ...

Just to add my two cents worth, but i believe that Maloney's video did also serve one other important function IMHO and that is to cement the fact that one needs to consider VALUE (using the ratios etc he discusses) as opposed to fiat PRICE of PMs when considering when to sell their stack...

I see far too many stackers here harping on about selling x% of their stack when the PRICE reaches x dollars...
Price doesnt mean sh1t! These guys would be well advised to watch this video at least ten times until it finally sinks in!!

;)
