Whats a fair % premium to pay above spot for 10 Oz bars?

Hi all,

just trying to get a feel for what the fair %'age premium above spot for 10 Oz bars would be. Only interested in 10 Oz bars.Thanks.

As you can see, it varies - buying from a dealer? Ebay? Perth Mint? A fellow stacker?

What is reasonable is probably 6-10% (that's my historical variance for a 24-bar history - both from site sponsors and the sales thread).

I think they were all Perth Mint bars - not that the should be any difference, just that the Southern Cross/Silver Stackers bars are, well ... "pretty" and the Perth Mint ones are ... bars.

Hope that kicks the thread off - I'm sure there will be others who say from time to time you could buy down at 3% and snag a bargain - seen some great prices on here recently!

You wouldnt want to pay anything more than 10% above spot and if you hunt around more like 5% would be a good buy.

Thanks for the response guys. I am partial to PM bars and PAMPS, so that is what I would mainly be looking for. I will only buy "privately" as well IE off SS.

You won't get PAMPs at 10% over spot unless you're incredibly lucky. 20% or more is closer to the norm for these.

Oddly enough all silver bars are not created equally!

If you want low premium 10oz bars then the generic type ones from the Sunshine Mint probably have the lowest premium and Perth Mint are also quite competitive.

Yet other bars contain a seriously high premium like PAMPS and Engelhard.
