Anyone with some experience with pricing the US Morgan Dollars 1883 with the “O” mint mark, doesn’t show any obvious signs of cleaning, has great visual appeal. Has the usual edge marks as other coins dropped on it during the minting process.

This one checks out ok with the Precious Metal Verifier which is always a good start. Weight seem fine. Any educated suggestions for what it’s worth?

Edit to add pick up in diverse collection including 2 other Morgan dollars, both much lower grade, all have checked out ok on the PMV. In the past I have seen/been offered similar ones that turned out to be replicas easily discovered by the weight!

Pretty much my single favorite coins in the whole world, the silver dollars! I have almost 400 of them now.
That coin doesnt look very worn and has the nice details.
You can see on the hot babes cheek and the crows chest where it touches laying flat but thats not bad.
Could be AU55 or better judging by the pic but I have a thing for Lady Liberty anyway.

Auctions can bring $200-$300 for the nice graded Morgans here in the US.
Its worth more than a small premium for sure just the way it is.

⭐ AU55 – Light wear

  • About 75–80% luster remains
  • Wear is light and confined to only the very highest spots
  • Cheek has a small area of smoothness
  • Eagle breast shows small wear patch, not spread-out

⭐ AU58 – The “slider” grade

Often looks like an MS coin at first glance.
  • 90–95% luster remaining
  • Only tiny rub on cheek or breast
  • Wear may be barely visible unless angled in the light
  • These often “trade like” lower mint-state coins

  • Many AU58s were likely MS coins that rubbed slightly in bags
