First off I just want to say that I'm glad I was turned on to this forum. I'm not new to silver forums (been over at kitco for a couple years now). Seems like there's a lot of cool topics. I noticed the YPS thread and wanted to share some poured bars I make myself. I've been buying silver for about 4 years now and just got into pouring my own bars about 6 months ago. My grandpa got me into silver and pushed me to pour my own once I expressed how much I liked them.

If you haven't already seen the big thread on hand pours (started back in 2012), definitely take a look. Skip forward a few pages and people start posting lots of amazing pics. There's even some earlier YPS stuff posted by the man himself.

Thank you guys very much! Normally I'd have better picture but recently had to clear my SD card. This weekend I'll pour more and take better pictures of each one!
 
Hey, I met this kid ( He is almost ten years younger than my kid, so kid fits him...old fart for me )...and I was blown away by his bars...his packaging...nice guy too.

We talked for over an hour, and he is going to do well making these bars...that is for sure. He brought an extra bar over what we discussed , it came home with me too.

He gave me some really good pointers on pouring my own bars, so I headed over to my favorite LCS the very next day and made some of my own out of tubes of buffalo rounds...with his pointers I got those killer cooling lines too( Always wondered how they did that, now I know ). The only molds my buddies at the LCS had were 10oz kitkat and 5oz loaf styles, so I bought almost 500 bucks worth of supplies to do everything from 25oz and down...and invited Ryan to come pour the larger bars with us.

Glad to see you made it over here to the forum Ryan, cant wait for the supplies to get here...and we get to pour those loaf 10s and 25s.
 
I went and took some pictures of Ryans bars, as well as my very FIRST attempt at pouring ANY silver bar...yes that would be the 6 1/2" KitKat bar in the picture ( I didn't attempt any fancy pourline moves on my first poured bar, but some small ones snuck in anyways )


I think the absolute very best one of Ryans bars is the 3oz example here, it actually looks like a couple of Islands surrounded by ocean water...freaking awesome....

This may be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. Throughout this thread and the other poured bar thread there is mention of melting buffalo rounds and maple leafs to make your bars. Would it not make more sense to use silver shot?

Not stupid at all, good question...I will give you my answer.

1. Price = Pretty much same price between shot and generic rounds, and more often than not...the generic rounds will be cheaper.
Looking right now at Provident/Apmex/Monarch, even 10oz bars can be gotten cheaper than their shot prices.

2. Trust = I have no clue who is making the bagged generic shot being sold
When I buy Buffalo rounds directly from Silvertowne, Silvertowne MADE those rounds from start to finish...I know when I peel that tape off of tubes of buffalos I got directly from them...I dont have to test squat ....
they can go straight into the crucible.
