silver panda prices down

Lately?
I've been buying hand over fist for 6 months.
This has been a great opportunity to get into MCC for those who missed the initial rush.
Buy right, sit tight.

It was falling in the last few months or so, and I have been spending crazy amounts of $ on MCC as well but lately, I have seen prices begining to increase. For example the 2012 MS 69 panda which used to finish in the high $40s to low $50s have lately been finishing in the $60s and even $70s.
Oddly enough there are still Buy It Now listing at $55. I guess these sellers are not aware of the recent surge in prices. I for one have not been able to pick up or notice bargains lately.

That will be me then, i.e. late to Pandas and thankful for the opportunity to catch up :)

I'm also buying like mad ATM. In my part of the world there have been a number of small Panda collections dropped onto ebay at very reasonable prices. For example, I've picked up recently 1989 and 2002 1oz both in OMP - $70 each, 1991SD & 1993LD Frosted - $120 each (the last two are in NGC ATM being graded, which is why I know the 1993 is frosted... TBH I had no idea :) ).

Thankfully with everything i've learnt here\will learn here I've the confidence to bid on these coins; there are way too many fakes out there.

[afterthought : I wonder if it's all the fakes, as well as the drop in the price of Silver, that's caused this dip in Panda prices?]

In China, there is this saying about precious metals coin market.

Translate to "September gold, October silver".

If the market is healthy, you will see good price achieve for silver coins come October in China.

I personally haven't really noticed a dip in Panda prices. But then again, I'm primarily looking out for high quality bears.

In the quality Panda market, I've been waiting over 6months for 1/2oz 1995 Small Date Silver Pandas, and over 12months for any of the Big3. No bargains to found lately.

I think with the 'bullion' pandas 2010/2011/2012 they have picked up slightly with the silver price rising. If silver continues to boom these will pace spot price

With the Big 3 and Next 10 there has been a dip earlier in the year but it really is a supply / demand thing. More people were packaging these pandas(OMP to NGC to EBay) so the supply side outweight the demand side so prices were flat or dropping. For example with the 99 serif you had the option of buying from Apmex and several good sellers on ebay for less than $800. Good quality 2000 mirrors are still hard to come by but selling closer to 1k rather 1.5k. Still 1800+ for a 1995 microdate. There is a slight renewed interest in 1993 pandas with frosted pandas coming into the NGC market. The 2003 mirror has also sparked a run with prices for MS69 going for 350+ and Shibaji's MS70 going for $2800 and another one for sale on ebay for similar price.

Some difficult to find pandas(for me) that I am still looking for include , 1992 SD MS69, 1993 MS69, 2001 MS69, 2007 MS70 and 2008 MS70.

Thanks for all the replies. I only started buying collector type silver pandas about a year ago and many of them around december - febuary 2012 and the prices seemed to be around $80 - $120 for most of the 90s era stuff I bought, then in the early spring and summer(in the USA) they really took off and now it just seems they are slowing down a bit , I guess it just depends on which ones , Pandas are a strange animal to figure out. The so called big 3 really seem to be gaining and many of the 1/10 oz gold seem to be just cruising away. I guess it just adds to the fun of it all.

Interesting what Low said about october in China , I wonder if the Chinese market really dictates Panda prices in the rest of the world , I guess it would only make sense...

other panda,s that has seemed to move upward IMHO, 2001d especially graded ,and it seems the 2003 frosted has been carried up with the mirror ,you hardly ever see a decent OMP going for less than 120,whereas before the mirror craze it was a 80 bear all day long

^ I'm pleased to hear about the 2001D's, I have a couple of those, and I agree about the 2003's. I keep getting out bid on those.

The 90's, especially if they've been taken out of the plastic, I find are sometimes cheaper than 2003s. For example; I got the 1991SD and 1993LD cheaper than the 2003 sold for (all 3 coins were listed by the same seller and the auctions all ended at the same time).

The other coin I'm having trouble tracking down at a decent price is the 2008 in an edge view holder (I know I'm being fussy :) )
