Hi, the RAM is having an astronaut come in and sign coins. Details on RAM website.

Anyway, if this is the case, is it worth going in and having "Southern Sky" series coins signed?
Any chance this could de-value the coin? Where would they sign? The box, tin, inside the tin is all black. Maybe the capsule??

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance :),

Prepare a letter describing the event, bring that day newspaper (to indicate date) and take a photo with it while signing. :D

Who is the astronaut? And I really don't pay for the labels cos it is just a piece of paper.

Astro-coins and Astronaut at the Mint
Meet an Astronaut at the official Orion constellation coin launch

Date: Monday 18 August 2014
Time: 10:45 am
Venue: Royal Australian Mint, Denison St. Deakin ACT
This is a free public event

As part of National Science Week, the Royal Australian Mint will welcome former NASA Astronaut, Rick Hieb, to the Mint on Monday 18 August 2014 for the launch of the final coin in the critically acclaimed Southern Sky domed coin series, which depicts the Orion constellation. The coin launch will be visible from the Mint's public gallery from 10:00 am.

A veteran of three trips into space including the inaugural launch of the space shuttle Endeavour, Mr Hieb will be given the opportunity to strike three of these stunning new coins at the Royal Australian Mint.

Visitors to the Mint will have the chance to meet a real-life astronaut, dressed in his flight suit, after the ceremonial striking in the public area of the Royal Australian Mint from 10.45 am. You will also have the opportunity to talk to Astronomers and Space Engineers from Mount Stromlo Observatory.

The visit is supported by Lockheed Martin Australia and the Australian National University.

Let us know how it goes.

Couldn't get away from work.

Apparently he is integral to the Mars mission. Would have been great to get him to sign the domed coin series!

I would love to see any pics from anyone who got their coins signed.
