Perth Mint ID Requirements

I understand the perth mint have changed their ID requirements recently. previously it was under 5k, no ID.

Now i am informed that it is a total of 5k over a number of visits, therefore it is cumulative.

The Dude :( at the mint said this had changes 2 months ago. New federal anti money laundering laws.

Does anyone have any more information on these changes?

Do you have to show ID for say <$100 purchase?

If not then just make numerous multiple purchases over several weeks/months. How can they remember everyones face over a period of time?
 
You could always post the question over at the Perth Mint blog as well - they have an existing topic on ID (but mostly related to the online bullion store).
 
I just tried to purchase something from the perth mint, and before I could do anything, it insisted I had to sign up. So I did.

Then, before any purchase made, I had to first fill out their application form, scan ID (passport/licence etc), and then, before they'll despatch anything to me, they are waiting to receive my authorised copies of ID via snail mail. Stamped by a JP.
 
If you place your order over the phone you don't have to provide any identification. I walked in about 2 hours ago, only bought a 20 oz bar, they didn't ask for id, will try to keep track of my spending, when I hit 5k I will see what happens.

If you pay by card they will list your name on the invoice, they get the details from the card (You can not buy Bullion with a Credit Card either) If you pay by cash they don't ask. Again you need to keep under the $5K limit I believe ?
 
I had no such options. My deal was:
Before u can "trade" .... and now perhaps I see my mistake. Did I choose some stupid option ... "trade bullion" ... as they wanted all ID etc before I could order any bullion at all. That was the website deal.
 
Another glitch which is giving me the screaming irrits has to do with the ID requirements.

I faced the same situation as lakesentrance (nice place-by the way); i.e. submit notarised

ID and address documentation. In my case the documents read:

Mark Rowen etc
..........
Torrington, Qld. 4350.

Trouble is, the Australia Post data base does not recognise Torrington as a 4350 postcode.

So I'm now registered but can't conduct on-line transactions. I can't be the only one in this situation

as their communications indicate that it is a real issue.

They say it will be resolved in the new year, let's hope so.

Yep this is in regard to over the counter. I have been visiting there paying cash under the 5k on and off for a while (thus no ID). Yesterday they hit me up for ID (the gent recognized me) although he would have no clue as what i have spent in the past.

It seems like the rules have changed. I did ask for the information on the changes to regulation, said he didn't have it, but pointed me to the Federal Anti money laundering web site.

Thought it was an interesting change done on the quite, i would have hoped they had information on display highlighting this change.

Can someone please tell me whether or not you can buy bullion on Saturday or Sunday from the PM?

Thanks, that is rather sad, bloody work always gets in the way.
I've never been there before but will go check it out anyway.
Sorry, one more question: is it possible to ring and book to pick up bullion on Saturday or Sunday?

If you try to buy something (shopping cart), without being logged in, then it'll ask you are you new or existing customer. Just say you're a new customer and you'll see the new signup requirements. Authorised ID in the post!
 
i bought a 2oz gold tiger and had to show drivers license... didn't photocopy or fill out form. Doesn't bother me too much really.

Is your name on the invoice ?

Hmm this is a little strange, never had to do anything like this. I will do a test and buy a smaller batch and then a larger item at a different point and see if details are required.
