I've asked Perth Mint about these - the wholesale team isn't aware of this as a product in the last few years. I'm wondering if they were a refinery special for an overseas customer - both the old and new Perth Mint logos can be seen on the bars pictured.

Has *anyone* ever seen one of these in the flesh? I can't even turn them up on Google images.

These are special orders. All metric products only comes in Certicards. FYI
Except the kilo brick of course.

Special orders - you know this how? The mint simply isn't aware of them.

I'm semi-suspicious that they're actually trademark knockoffs produced overseas.

Quite possible.
Not going to argue with that. :|

The Mint also hold Top Secret stuffs from everyone too. ;)

Only available at overseas markets. :D

Yes, Knockoff. I believe

The Words " Gold " is the give away... :o

Non in the records of Perth Mint AU Bars do have the word GOLD on it.

I'm asking about 100g cast gold bars with the current PM logo that's only a couple of years old, not vintage 5oz bars that Perth Bullion had on consignment.

Already answer yours question. The word "GOLD" is the give away.

I never seen any of theirs Bars with the word GOLD on it. Even silver on it. ;)
The most with 9999 on them.

My question was if anyone has *seen* them. As a distributor and long time stacker I'm fully aware of what the characteristics of Perth Mint gold bars are, which is why I've brought it to their attention. They're not aware of the product.

But say someone popped up and said "Yeah, I've seen these in Mumbai or Dubai" then there's a lead to work with.

BTW there's 996 Perth Mint gold bars floating around, so just having 999 means nothing with regards to their legitimacy.

The word "GOLD" not on the 10 oz cast bars ;)

These stamp have been a very well known LOOKS; throughout Perth Mint making Bars in Gold & Silver Bars Styles

I don't think you comprehend. I know that all other Perth Mint gold bars have not got the word GOLD on them. If they're an export-only product for a specific market, don't you think then that *maybe* an offshore customer ordered them with the word GOLD? It's not proof either way that they're fake, trademark knockoff or genuine. The refinery has operated almost autonomously from Perth Mint Wholesale for years since the buyout was completed, and getting information out of there is like squeezing shit from a rocking horse - it's still possible that they were an export-only job and Wholesale is unaware of them. Ron Currie had never seen them before - asked him while he was still employed there.

Or maybe someone in India is knocking out bars with the Perth Mint's trademark on them.

I'm trying to ascertain if anyone has seen one of these bars physically in the flesh. I'm putting you down as a "no".

There are two Chief assayers, perhap the one at the refinery will know.
I have spoken to him once. He might able to answer this.

Took 16 posts, but that's useful :)

I have done my homework long time ago.
The Mint doesn't knows their stuffs very well.
Running two places with different crews. Two Chiefs Assayers, two complete different places.

All records are kept away from everyone.
If I have time and permission, I will read all those archives they have; even it takes me years to read them all.

The archives are not at the mint. That's all I know. Still searching. :/

D'oh! I've got that PDF on my PC too. Thanks!

Still can't find an image of one - or the cast 10 tola, 250g or 500g bar for that matter. Looks like they date to the AGR days, so probably are an export item for the Asian or Indian market.

I've seen the 995 kilos before, and that listing doesn't include the 996 bars - there's lots of current shape 1oz cast bars floating around with 996 purity (older logo), which is fine for GST purposes, but most customers don't like them.
