Hi Yennus

Pandas can be packaged in various ways according to the year and sometimes the easiest way to detect legit pandas is the packaging.

I think you mentioned it is hard to counterfeit the latest packaging.

I'm not familiar with some of the old packaging - is it possible to provide some information on this?

Hi Somerset,

you're absolutely right; thus far I haven't come across (nor heard) of any counterfeit pandas that have come in original packaging.

Since about 2005, all the gold comes in packages with Shenzhen Guobao written along the edges - which is why I think these are the best pandas to start with.

Other years, and some silver Pandas come with the older style double seal. But they do vary, so you will need to do some homework beforehand if you are targeting something specific.

Thanks Yennus - is it fair to say that some of the older silver coins always comes in sheets first and then removed? I've seen some capsule only so curious.

I know the new ones come in the tray thing

And is the plastic sheeting (not capsule) on the silver coins different to the gold ones?
