Well this unintended series on silver bullion comparisons is bringing a lot of attention to the profitability of Pandas.

First off, when it comes to coins, I was until recently very generic silver bullion heavy. Most people that have known me for a while know that the majority of my trades previous to this year, have not been Pandas, but sovereigns, PAMPs, Pre-Decimals, Kooks, Koalas, etc.
I'll declare right from the start, I'm not a huge Lunar fan, I'm not a fan of the Chinese zodiac... weird but true... not for any reasons like mintage numbers or quality issues... Lunars just don't appeal to me... but as the saying goes "let the chips fall where they may". I'm after the maximum return on capital investment - as hopefully you are too.
I was going to auction off a few of my Lunar coins; but fortunately jpanngy has done the hardwork for me. (Which is cool, cos he got a pair of my 1/2oz Pandas for a BARGAIN! when everyone was sleeping)

1oz 2010 Lunar series 2 Tiger @ $55
1oz 2010 1oz Silver Panda @ $65
In this match up, it's fairly obvious which is the winner once again... but someone previously objected, claiming that maybe the 2010 Panda price was a fluke - a lucky punch perhaps? This is easily refuted since the next highest bid was $63.50 (by a wonderful airsoft panda).
If I had more 2010s on hand, I would probably auction them now, and see what price they would fetch today... such a shame... but oh wait, fortunately there is someone that posted their desire to BUY a Panda... so let's see what they value the 2010 Pandas at:
"WTB 3 2010 1oz silver pandas for $60 each plus postage"
http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-11906-wtb-2010-pandas.html
Wow! The market forces are strong with this Panda... $60!
So with two independent sources on silverstackers (an auction and a WTB) showing the strength of the 2010 Panda to be valued at $60-$65. The Panda once again stands undefeated.
BUT... I must say, I am surprised that the 2010 Lunar Tiger is no pussy cat. It has actually put up a better fight than the ASE, Maples and Roos. The Panda is only ahead by 9-18%, whereas in previous bullion matchups, the 2010 Panda was ahead by a much greater margin.
It should be interesting to see how the 2009 Lunar Ox holds up to the Panda of the same year... do the Lunars start pounding on the Pandas, or do the Pandas still hold the title of Undefeated Bullion Champion?
Hope you found this interesting.
Thanks for reading.
