I was checking prices on a 1/2 oz 2004 European niobium coin I own (the 150th anniversary of the Semmering Alpine railway) when I came across this new niobium coin, "Saturn", the first coin in a new silver and niobium coin series showcasing our solar system.

What's more appealing about this new niobium coin to the collector in me is the much lower mintage than the European niobium coin. The European coin's mintage is 50,000-65,000 (depending on the source of the mintage info) while the Palau "Saturn" niobium coin is only 3,000.

Now you might be asking what is niobium? I did too the first time I heard about it used in a coin. It's a very interesting element that you can read more about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niobium

As with most new silver collectible coins, I found the First Coin Company has a page devoted to describing the coin: https://firstcoincompany.com/S/repu...stem-niobium-2-silver-niobium-coin-proof-2017

I don't work for The First Coin Company and as usual, the reason I share direct links is to give other members easy access to learning more about coins I mention. Here's some pics:
